The Dominion versus the Borg

Good morning.

I know this is an ancient topic (in all fairness, most topics tend to be, when it comes to science-fiction fan bases), but I'm curious as to whether a consensus was ever reached on who - between the Dominion and the Borg - would win in a head-to-head conflict.

The power levels of neither have been portrayed consistently, nor has that of the Defiant.
Such is typically the case with such matters, such as the ancient quæstion whether Superman would beat Gokuu in a fight or not.

Would the Borg assimilate Jem'Hadar or Vorta? They might deem them inferior species since they're engineered servants, especially the Jem'Hadar since they're designed with flaws meant as levels of control.

I don't know why the Borg would consider the Vorta worth assimilating...for their superior diplomatic skills? :p

The Jem'hadar might be worth it for their superior physical strength/endurance, and I imagine the Borg could remove the Ketracel White addiction if so inclined.

The Jem'Hadar have a biology totally supported by a single chemical input. It could serve the Borg to assimilate such knowledge and be able to potentially support their biological components more efficiently, economically or reliably. Plus the Borg had their own experiences with rebels and free thinking drones like those led by Hugh. The collective gaining greater knowledge of biological controls could also serve their present and future needs.

The Vorta for their poison resistance :)

If it's a pure numbers game, the Borg have this in the bag; in terms of morale, the Borg also have an edge.

What of the Voth?

The Voth seem more advanced than the Borg in some areas. They have access to transwarp without a prior network, they can 'switch off' energy on the target ship just like flicking a switch, and the entire Voyager database could be downloaded in a simple handheld device in a second or so.

But while we know the Borg have thousands, probably even millions of cubes, we only know of the single city ship by the Voth. Perhaps they have just this one, perhaps there are countless many of those. We simply don't know. Also it's impossible to gauge how quickly the Borg could adapt and how many other tricks the Voth have up their sleeve.

If the Borg are able to assimilate the Founders, then the Borg would win. The Dominion's big advantages were having a massive number of devoted followers who were willing to die for their cause and being able to impersonate Alpha and Beta Quadrant species. I don't think a Founder would be able to make individual Borg think they are a Borg because either they wouldn't have the neural link to the other Borg or the Borg would be able to read their minds. And the Dominion and Borg fleets might be of compariable sizes.

If the Borg aren't able to assimilate the Founders, then they would probably assimilate the rest of the Dominion and just leave the Founders home world unassimilated.

We know the Borg have probably assimilated some pretty strange lifeforms. Take for example species 2-5-9 living in Galactic Cluster 3, ' a transmaterial energy plane intersecting twenty two billion omnicordial lifeforms. ' (VOY: The Gift)

So I wouldn't put it past the realm of the possible that they actually could assimilate the Founders.

At least it's not the 800th thread on why Harry Kim didn't get a promotion.

Alternatively they might surround the planet with cubes and vaporise it, as Tain intended.

Sounds Medusan.

The Undine DNA was too dense…the Founders perhaps more so.

One thing comes to mind...what if there have been at least several of the hundred within Borg Space...especially already present when the Borg was first "founded". Not to mention they may have encountered races who knows the founders.... They could be well prepared to deal with the founders....

Isn't there only one Goku, whether he's in his superpowered form or not? On the other hand, there is a huge variety of Supermen: Golden Age to Modern Age and "normal" DC Earth to the many alternative realities.

The Founders are as crafty as the UFP when it come confrontations with other species. The Dominion can grow their soldiers quickly and adjust their DNA as needed and build shipyards quickly as well. I think the numbers game is even between the two. I think the question is how many Dominion ships does it take to take down a Borg cube?
