The Doctor's Daughter is coming to Big Finish

"Love the running..."

Doctor Who star Georgia Moffett, who played the Doctor’s daughter Jenny in 2008 for the BBC1 sci-fi show, is set to return to the part for a series of audio adventures.

The actress – the daughter of Doctor Who star Peter Davison and wife of former Doctor David Tennant – is recording the stories this summer for production house Big Finish, with a release expected towards the end of the year.

It marks an interesting week for Doctor Who’s women after the sensational casting of Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor.

RadioTimes.com can also reveal that the Doctor’s daughter will have a male companion for her audio adventures: Sean Biggerstaff, the actor best know for playing Oliver Wood in the Harry Potter films, will star alongside her.

One of the new audio adventures is being written by Christian Brassington – the actor will be well known to Poldark fans for playing the loathsome Osborne Whitworth in the current series.

His episode is called Neon Reign and will be the first major production of his work, he told RadioTimes.com.

That was actually accidently revealed by her dad a few months back.

I wonder if Mr Moffett will make an appearance?

Honestly, I'm surprised this didn't happen sooner.

I'm not a fan of "The Doctor's Daughter" (I consider it the singular weak spot of series 4), but I'll probably give this a shot.

I'll be amused if they brought him in as a different character, harking back to his earlier days with Big Finish. That would be a great way not to overshadow Georgia's series.

Oh dear, Nick Briggs had a go at Georgia for linking to the Radio Times story on Twitter because BF hadn't officially announced it yet.

Which is pretty crazy when you consider that he probably wants to keep working with her father and her husband...

Can't access that - what did he say ?

Georgia Tennant posts this: "Dunno who this 'Moffett' girl is but here's what I'M doing next-" with a link to the Radio Times article.

Briggs: "Oh, so that'll be you announcing this, then. Right..."

And the sad thing is, she probably saw the story on the RT site and assumed BF had released the information. (As opposed to one of the writers running his mouth off in an unconnected interview about his acting career.)

I think that was a safe assumption for her to make. And I can't really fault the Radio Times reporter for running with an article based on what the writer said in an on-the-record interview. Yes, the writer spoke out of turn, but that's no reason for Briggs to come off sarcastically to Georgia because she touted the Radio Times piece.

I know, I know, I'm speaking to the choir here. I've had to learn, in my own career, that just because something's said publicly doesn't necessarily mean that it's public, and sometimes I need to follow up with people and ask them whether or not something that was said on the record can actually be quoted. Media companies have their rollouts, after all, and it's better to stay on their good side (for access) than to be locked out because I made the wrong assumption about the publicness of a public comment.

Also, Georgia Tennant is also a stage name, as is David Tennant. David Tennant's real name is David McDonald. I don't know if off-stage Georgia still goes by Moffett or has switched to McDonald though.

I'm one of the few who actually enjoyed "The Doctor's Daughter," due primarily to Georgia's performance as Jenny, so I'm looking forward to these audios. Might not get to them in this century however, since I'm way behind in listening to the Eighth Doctor stories.

I hate The Doctor's Daughter, especially after reading RTD's proposed treatment for it, which had this event being a "cataclysmic" for the Doctor, an event that would irevocably change and stigma him. But of course, that never happened. Forcing important events rather than inspiring them, RTD, is beneath you. He should've known this.

Cool. I've still never heard the audios, but it's nice that this is finally getting followed up on somewhere.
