News The Doctor Who Series 10 Soundtrack Release Has Been Teased Before the Doctor Who Series 10 Soundtrack Release

Almost eight years after the conclusion of Peter Capaldi's run as the Twelfth Doctor, and Steven Moffat's tenure as executive producer, during which we've seen three (maybe four) new numbered Doctors, two production team transitions, and two new series composers including Murray Gold himself, it looks like Murray Gold's soundtrack album for series 10 of Doctor Who is finally coming out.

It's been a long road, getting from there to here (wait, wrong franchise). The numerous events in all of our lives that have occurred in the gap between the final episode airing on Christmas 2017 and the soundtrack being released on [TBA 202X] have been chronicled on social media (Twitter edition*, Tumblr edition, BlueSky Edition), the passive-aggressive gimmick account getting a mention by Murray Gold himself in a Doctor Who magazine interview.

God willing, it'll be four-disc doorstopper that will somehow manage to miss the one cue I was looking forward to second-most, just like every other soundtrack Gold releases. At least he's better than Jeff Russo, who manages to omit the cue I'm looking forward to the absolute most every time.

*The microblogging site Twitter was purchased by Elon Musk and rebranded as "X" before the Doctor Who series 10 soundtrack album was released, but after the account pointing out things that happened before the Doctor Who series 10 was released began.

Hell, just look at the sci-fi/genre landscape of the time, compared to now. At Christmas 2017, Star Wars The Last Jedi had just been released in theatres. The Orville had recently finished its first season. Star Trek Discovery was was in the midseason hiatus of its first season. The MCU was riding the high of being at its peak popularity and the first trailer for Avengers Infinity War had just been released. The recent release of Justice League was causing DC films to begin rethinking their approach.

Now, there have been two other Star Wars films, with another coming next spring, plus the franchise has had many television projects, one of which is the basis for the upcoming movie. The Orville has had two other seasons and another might(?) be happening. Star Trek Discovery has ended after five seasons, there have been for additional Star Trek shows (three of which have ended) with another due to premiere next year. The MCU is in decline, with many suggesting the superhero genre in general is in a state of fatigue, though with the success of the recent Superman movie DC might be seeing a possible resurgence.
