Aboud Dandachi is the writer; he lived in Syria, under a brutal regime, in a small town that barely had an internet connection. He discovered Doctor Who, and spent weeks downloading one season (because their Internet is slow, and frequently gets shut down by the government for days or weeks at a time).
In this book, he reviews one episode at a time, starting with the Matt Smith Utah two-parter, and tells stories about what the episode means to him, as someone who struggles on a daily basis to do something as simple as get clean water, and cross the street without being gunned down.
He was able to make it out of Syria in 2013, when he started writing this book. It's relatively short, but it's been an interesting read so far.
