I hope their interest in the main deflector doesn't represent some major plot point. TNG and Voy beat it to death.

I hope they call it "Dishy" like I suggested.

If it means they're gonna do something inspired by First Contact's spacewalk, cool.

My guess: No spacewalk, and it'll be damaged to prevent the Enterprise going to warp (as per Voyager's "Collective" I saw a couple of days ago) at a convienient moment.

Seriously, why should that be named? What's wrong with deflector dish? It indicates it's purpose. What's next, naming the bridge something other than then bridge?

I sense they are just messing with the fans and having fun with it. I'd be more interested in that other part about having your last name as a character in the next movie. Sounds more tangible.

Well, as the article mentions, there are a lot of names. "Deflector dish," "main deflector," "navigational deflector," "deflector array," and, what the hell, let's go super-retro and include "meteor beam." Considering how awfully mean we can be as fans, it isn't out of the realm of sanity to check which one is most correct.
