"This is Star Trek 1 to Star Trek 2, we have detected a distress beacon in the nearby star cluster galaxy of LZ-9001. We are sending a science and light armed exploration vessel, FedShip1 to investigate. Estimated time of arrival is 5 standard days, Star Trek 1 out.".

"Engineer Picirk! The Captain needs you on the bridge, he says he's got something to show you." A young female of the Vandal race, only 2300 standard years old, equivalent to around 23 human years, was rushing over to Picrik's side, her strange red and pink tendrils flapping in the breeze.
"Excuse me?", said an annoyed Picrik, rubbing his forehead with his head.
The alien went ahem. "The Captain has placed an order for you on the bridge, human. He has requested your arrival immediately." The alien's tendrils flicked in the air and spat out small gobules of flashing bright liquid light which flew through the air and landed near a man sorting paper. The man spat angrily but was then electrocuted by his computer. Several crew mans rushed over to drag his body away but were also electrocuted.
Picrik and the alien watched the drama unfold when 3 of the surviving crewmembers picked up a spare plank of wood and smashed the first man away from the console. He sighed from the sheer effort required to swing the wooden plank and fainted onto the faulty console which lit up with sparks, setting a nearby crew man carrying a jug of gasoline on fire.
"Alright, I think I'd better head up to the bridge. Keep an eye on the men down here, and someone put that damn fire out!"
The alien nodded and began shrieking loudly and intensely at the remaining crew mans. Luckily, a specialized Emergency Response Team (ERT) had arrived.
"Sir! I am Sergeant Dude Robert, commander of ERT-7, what are your orders, sir!", screamed the ERT commander at Engineer Picrik, half a dozen men grouped up behind him, looking up expectabtly at their leader.
"Dude Robert, get that fire under control, that is an order!", yelled Picrik in frustration that the fire was still raging. Oh, well. The second he stepped into the elevator it would be no longer his problem.
"Sir yes sir!" The ERT commander slapped his forehead and whipped around, and pulled out his fire extinguisher and began dumping it into the fire, while his subordinates whipped out their M114 assault rifles out, armed them and waved them around at the crew.
"Crew! We are the ERT team, and everything is under control!", the ERT team leader shouted loudly in a proud voice.
Picrik watched as a crew man picked up a crowbar and rushed at a ERT member. "Aaaagghhhh!" went the crew man as he whacked the crowbar into the ERT member's external oxygen tank. Pickrik's eyes went wide and he ducked for cover under a slab of metal as the oxygen tank suddenly flashed into a ball of white fire and plasma which enveloped five other crew mans and two other ERT members, shrapnel punturing their tanks.
The FedShip1 rocked back and forth as a massive explosion demolished a large part of the engineering hallway, and causing the ceiling to collapse, blocking the exit of any survivors. Picrik shuddered as he listened to the screams of the crewmembers and the gunshots of the ERT team beyond the raging fire. Picrik watched as he saw two survivors rush up to the rubble of the fallen-down ceiling and began picking apart the pieces, their hands singing on the red-hot glowing metal when suddenly automatic pulse rifle fire was heard and blood splattered onto the red hot steel, causing it to crackle and sizzle and the crewmember convulsed and collapsed to the ground.
There was a clamping of heavy steel-toed boots behind him, and Picrik turned around to face another ERT team rushing down his corridor and immediately begin cutting through the red hot rubble, pulse rifles at the ready.
Another explosion shook the ship as what sounded like a grenade went off behind the molten rubble and more gunshots and screams echoed into the room. Suddenly, Picrik noticed how burningly hot the air was and stumbled back into the elevator and pressed the "BRIDGE" button. He swiped his ID card and sighed in relief as the elevator began moving towards the bridge.
Finally, the elevator doors opened, revealing yet another ERT team, with over a dozen workers. They shoved Picrik out of the elevator and piled themselves in, closing the doors behind them. Five minutes later, Picrik was standing in the Captain's office.
There was a shuffling noise, and the Captain appeared infront of him.
"Now, Picrik, just a few hours ago, we picked up something strange on the short-range scanners." The Captain brought up something on the screen.
"This,", went the Captain, turning the computer screen around, revealing a very large creature with strange wickedly sharp protrusions on several appendages. It looked dangerous, Picrik throught.
"Is what we saw on the scanners planted near the distress beacon of LZ-9001."
"Looks a bit like a yeti. What about the colony from where the beacon originated?"
"That's why we called you. I want you to listen to this signal we picked up from the colony a few hours ago."
The Captain picked up a USB drive and plugged it into the desktop tower. He clicked around a few times, then a audio file played.
Picrik and the Captain listened to it carefully a few times. Finally, the Captain pulled the USB drive out .
"So, what do you think of it?"
"I think it sounds like some sort of threat, it sounds like some sort of terrorists or space pirates must have captured the colony and are probably just setting up the communication arrays and don't want anyone to interfere with their plans. I reckon, as the ship's engineer, we'd better send an ERT team down there to clear things up."
"And that's exactly what we're doing!" The Captain snapped his fingers and Picrik found himself in a ERT shuttle, surrounded by armed men in reinforced hardsuits. It felt very quick, almost rushed.
"Alright, I've sent a ship engineer down to assist your guys in repairing the colony, alright? Picrik, I've given you over 30 of the finest ERT members to protect you, now get your job gone and release that colony, aye?"
"Ooh-rah.", went the ERT peoples.
The ERT shuttle shuddered as it shot out of the FedShip1's support vessel launching system and entered the planet's atmosphere.
