A large Australian investment bank has been left red faced after a live cross to provde a financial report.

So while it looks good to have all those workers and and computer screens in the background I guess they a disaters waiting to happen :)

A MACQUARIE Bank adviser has been left red-faced after being caught live on television looking at a series of near-nude snaps of supermodel Miranda Kerr. The footage of the adviser has swept the trading rooms of banks across Sydney after it was captured by Seven News.
The network was interviewing Macquarie private wealth adviser Martin Lakos on the financial market’s reaction to the Reserve Bank keeping interest rates on hold at 2.30pm.

for the life of me I can't figure out what 'cross' is supposed to mean in this context . . .

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it MIGHT mean panning across a room, in a situation where not everything is perfectly staged.

I love that sheepish "oh shit" look on the face of the banker as he turns around! Except I can't tell if he's ashamed--or proud of himself!

Must be an Australian thing.

If the tv presenter does passes it over to some-one live doing a presentation is said to be a cross.

Though I'm sure people would of heard expressions like "we now cross live to our reporter on the scene".

I was hoping it was something to do with crucifixion. Or an electrical hazard.

In any case, 'this video is no longer available'. :(

That terminology is not used in the US for going to a liveshot. No biggie.

Well I'm sure there's a crucifixion involved - namely of the guy looking at the pics :)

I'm sure the video will turn up youtube.

In the U.S., it's usually called a live feed or live remote. Six of one, half a dozen of the other.
