HELLCATS is a coming-of-age story about Marti Perkins, a young, pre-law student at Lancer University inMemphis, Tennessee. Marti is cool, hip and alt, but her world flips upside down, literally and figuratively, when she loses her scholarship, and realizes the only way she can stay in school is by reigniting her dormant teen gymnastic skills to win a place on Lancer’s legendary cheerleading team, The Hellcats. Against her every instinct, Marti goes for it and makes the squad, and is thrust into a world of camaraderie, backstabbing and the intersection of sports, backroom academia and big money. Marti’s new roommate, Savannah Monroe, a petite, peppy Texan, is among the diverse cast of athletes, undergrads, family and friends, all set on the sprawling campus of a powerhouse college football program in the deep South. The series stars Aly Michalka as Marti Perkins, Ashley Tisdale as Savannah Monroe, Heather Hemmens as Alice Verdura, Robbie Jones as Lewis Flynn, Matt Barr as Dan Patch, with Sharon Leal as Vanessa Lodge and Gail O’Grady as Wanda Perkins. HELLCATS is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Tom Welling Productions, Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios with executive producers Kevin Murphy (“Desperate Housewives”), Tom Welling (“Smallville”) and Allan Arkush (“Heroes,” “Crossing Jordan”). The pilot was directed by Allan Arkush.

NIKITA When she was a deeply troubled teenager, Nikita was rescued from death row by a secret U.S. agency known only as Division, who faked her execution and told her she was being given a second chance to start a new life and serve her country. What they didn’t tell her was that she was being trained as a spy and assassin. Ultimately, Nikita was betrayed and her dreams shattered by the only people she thought she could trust. Now, after three years in hiding, Nikita is seeking retribution and making it clear to her former bosses that she will stop at nothing to expose and destroy their covert operation. For the time being, however, Division continues to recruit and train other young people, erasing all evidence of their former lives and turning them into cold and efficient killers. One of these new recruits, Alex, is just beginning to understand what lies ahead for her and why the legendary Nikita made the desperate decision to run. The series stars Maggie Q as Nikita, Lyndsy Fonseca as Alex, Shane West as Michael, Aaron Stanford as Birkhoff, Ashton Holmes as Thom, Tiffany Hines as Jaden, with Melinda Clarke as Amanda and Xander Berkeley as Percy. NIKITA is from Warner Bros. Television in association with Wonderland Sound and Vision, with executive producers Craig Silverstein (“Bones,” “K-Ville”), Danny Cannon (“CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” “Chuck”), McG (“Supernatural,” “Chuck,” “The O.C.,” “Charlie’s Angels”), and Peter Johnson (“Supernatural,” “Chuck”). The pilot was directed by Danny Cannon.

Reading the recent descriptions of Nikita is making me optimistic for it once again. I really *REALLY* want it to be Maggie Q in a starring role. It sounded like she was the lead when first cast, then later it sounded like Lyndsy(buy a vowel girl) Fonseca was... Now I'm not sure. It would seem if Nikita(Maggie Q) has been in hiding for years and the show is set at the agency she fled from then she wouldn't be the main focus of the show, but the recent stuff from the CW all list her as the main lead so I'm hopeful again ;)

The CW's scripted shows for 2010/2011 in order of longevity:

Smallville - season 10
One Tree Hill - season 8
Supernatural - season 6
Gossip Girl - season 4
90210 - season 3
Life Unexpected - season 2
The Vampire Diaries - season 2
Hellcats - season 1
Nikita - season 1

So I guess the move to Friday for Supernatural is permanent. I don't know whether it's a good thing or not...it was being murdered on Thursdays with all the competition, but Friday at 9? No one except people that are already fans are going to watch. At least it leaves me open to watch the final season of The Office live. It's funny, Supernatural always seems to be in conflict with another show that I like...up until now.

Truthfully, I'm not much interested in the other shows on the CW, Nikita could be interesting, I may try the premiere. I gave Vampire Diaries that chance and it bored me to tears, though, so I'm not holding out hope.

I've actually got a lot of shows I watch on this network. I'll check out Nikita cause it's got a sound premise so hopefully they'll execute it well. Is Hellcats the show Ben Browder is supposed to be on?

what is all of this talk about "original" at the CW.

90210 - sequel to BH 90210
Gossip Girl - based on books

One Tree Hill - former theWB, hardly original to The CW

Next Top Model - former UPN

The Vampire Diaries - based on books
Nikita - remake

Smallville - former theWB, based on classic DC Comics characters
Supernatural - former theWB

so actually original programs to theCW

Life Unexpected
Hell Cats

2 out of 10 hours

In network-speak original programming means new content, i.e. shows/episodes that aren't reruns (whether they originated on The CW or whether they're based on other material doesn't enter into the equation). Thus Monday to Friday will have two hours of original programming next season on The CW, an expansion of original content. That's what they're drawing attention to.

Videos for Hellcats and Nikita.

Hellcats looks like a great intellectual exercise. :rommie: At least they are depicting the cheerleading squad accurately, with guys included. Need some muscle if they're going to do competitive routines.

Nikita: old people?!? On a CW show!?! Actually it looks pretty good but it's not really my kind of show.

Hey, Hellcats is a goldmine for The CW. At the end of every episode, they can list twice as many music albums as they usually do!!!

not having a repeat, in 10 hours of programming, its nothing to be proud of.

They're a netlet with far more limited funds than the established broadcast networks, so of course they have fewer hours of programming. But they've hung on and got themselves into a position where they're expanding their original programming by an hour next season despite a lot of people wondering whether they'd survive at all not too long ago. So I can see why they have some pride in it.

The CW's three longest-running shows all came from the WB, while it no longer carries any programming from UPN (and hasn't for a while, IIRC). Anyone else not surprised by this?

it still carries Next Top Model, which was from UPN.

Also there is no surprise its longest running shows, are the ones that pre date it, its still a young channel.

I completely forgot about ANTM.

I was really just trying to point out how it seems like the CW owed much of its early "success" to the shows it inherited from the WB, while those shows it inherited from UPN didn't last for long after the merge (aside from ANTM--which I hope was the only still-running show that I forgot).

Though it's very possible that all three of those ex-WB shows will be gone after next season, while America's Next Top Model will probably continue, so I suppose my point isn't as good as I'd originally believed. :alienblush:

Whilst true that theCW owes alot to the three theWB shows, ANTM does fit the CW mould very well, and shows no signs of stopping.

As we know Smallville is ending, and it always seems to be a suprised when they renew OTH, that cant go on for ever.

Supernatural, again there is always talk that is in its last series, and actors will quit.
