The corniest film you inexplicably love

Rowdy Roddy McDowall

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
Some MIGHT sat 1997's TITANIC.

Many would likely choose LONE WOLF McQUADE, which was my current runner-up after I succumbed to the high-octane idiocy.

I'm going to have to go with ARMAGEDDON, probably Michael Bay's finest hour.* And here's just one of many reasons why: Buscemi in space. I'll give more reasons should anyone insist.

(*Apologies to THE ROCK's fans, but the interplay between Ed Harris and David Morse was surprisingly good in comparison to all of the Connery-Cage verbal exchanges. The co-leads got shafted with the worst lines.)

Now you all.....

Buscemi in Space!
Absolutely Got Dam Right!!!

One of mine would be (in somewhat the same vein) “Independence Day”!

To me, lots to love!
Corny!!!
Plus, Suspension of Disbelief!!!

Armageddon is a good call. Keeping with Michael Bay, there’s also The Rock, while Nic Cage adds another link to the chain in the form of Con Air.

But probably the corniest film I love the most is Flash Gordon.

Tim Curry is Golden!
If I was ever given the chance to meet him, I would have asked him if he valued his performance…and I would have hoped he would have said “Yes!”…

In a world where military man Adam Baldwin must be reminded to protect civilian casualties by another civilian....

Batman movie with Adam West.

Though that bomb was quite intentional.

In any other post, that might seem strange.

Air Force One, Demolition Man and Passenger 57. All good action films but with some dialogue and editing that's a bit naff. Maybe it's just how 90s action translates to home movie and the corniness went un-noticed in a cinema setting.

Con Air is great fun.
Among the things I love about it and Armageddon are the fact that the supporting cast is full of brilliant character (or leading, in the case of Malkovich) actors. It’s as if the producers were watching films by the likes of Tarantino or Wes Anderson and borrowing the scene stealers.

I can't decide if Demolition Man is brilliantly edited or disastrously edited... I mean, the as-is film actually showed what happened to Spartan's daughter, and they managed to nearly erase her from the movie (she's the random Scrap Spartan is protecting when Phoenix attacks). She also kissed Spartan on the cheek at the end, prompting Lenina to wonder what was so bad about kissing; Spartan took that as permission to demonstrate the real thing.

*~*~*

My corny film is Batman Beyond, Return of the Joker. If you can, watch the original PG-13 rated version, which has better fight scenes, a better version of Joker's dart gun, and a shot where Batman plants a knee in Joker's you-know-what's. Mark Hamill was the best voice actor to play the Joker, ranking right up there with Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger.

Lone Wolf McQuaid is definitely up there.
Try Captain Kronos, Vampire Hunter. It has the benefit of Caroline Munro in a peasant outfit, and Wanda Ventham in a nighty, but is otherwise a big pile of silly. It's a Hammer vampire film written and directed by Brian Clemens, who wrote for the Avengers TV series, and many of the production people are from the Avengers as well. It sort of looks like an episode, just without Steed & Mrs Peel, and with a personalityless doofus in the lead.
