I missed Obama's thing but I caught the last 5 or 10 minutes of Leno's schtick. He bombed even harder than usual. It was kind of impressive actually. Most people are good for a least a few laughs just by virtue of falling flat on their face. That didn't happen here. Not a shred of mirth to be had.

Jay Leno is where funny goes to die.

I saw a clip of it on MSNBC and of course they were making excuses for Leno, but Obama was genuinely funny. I know he had writers, but so does Leno and Obama is not a comedian.

Obama's got a hipper, more ironic and more absurd style of humor, a la Stewart, Colbert, and O'Brien. Not only has he guested on their shows, but he's participated in comedy pieces on at least two of the three shows.
