The Car of Tommorow - What do you Think

For the Nascar fans out there, what do you think of the new car and it's safety. I was watching the race today and there were some really hard knocks, mainly from Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon. I'm glad they walked out alright but good god there were some nasty crashes today. Anyway, to get this back to the car, I'm liking it so far. It seems to be safer, even though it looks like it's hard to drive. Hopefully later in the season everyone will get the kinks out of it but it is making the races more competitive.

Speaking of today's race, there was a lot of talk last week about why there are races in Fontana and the embarrassment Nascar faced last weekend. I understand some of it, but I'm starting to wonder if the same can be said about Las Vegas. Granted, Las Vegas is a good area and deserve a race (And they have the crowds for it) but they need to renovate that track. They need to make the barrier walls safer so we don't have these scary incidents.

I thought they'd just renovated the track in Vegas a couple of years ago.

If they did, than they should do another one. I'm focused mainly on the barriers and kind of have what they have in Daytona. Gordon's crash today was scary in that he hit that wall hard.

Well, Gordon's crash wasn't scary so much because of the type of wall that he hit, it was more of where on the wall that he hit. If he had hit the straight section he would have been better off, but since he hit that curved section it was almost a 90 degree hit...that was pretty scary.

As for the cars, I think they're ugly as hell. I hate that ricer wing on the back. If I had my way they'd all look exactly like their stock equivalents. This is *stock car* racing after all.

I think the new car is great, despite it being ugly, but that's quickly going away. As for Vegas's wall problems, they should have SAFER barriers on all track areas open to racing, inside walls included. You never know if a car will slide into an inside wall.

The racing has been pretty good so far. The 1-1/2 milers may not be the yawns they were becoming. A couple seasons of tweaking and I think it'll be a winner. I'm still hoping for pony-car COTs for the Nationwide Series.
PS- WAY TO GO ROBBY G.!
