And, I'll say it, Summer Glau is overrated. She lack charisma. Her voice is annoying. And she's there to get genre fans on board.

I don't get the appeal either. Yeah her character was kinda cool in Firefly, but outside of that she hasn't made much of an impression on me at all.

Especially compared to someone as cute and utterly charming as Emma Stone, for instance.

I thought her character was an interesting plot/mystery, but she was there to be the girl with the little girl voice who could kick ass. Not particularly much of a character.

The other women of Firefly were more interesting actors and characters.

I'm waiting for the southpark parody.

There's no way they can help themselves.

They fricking already have a bunch of super heroes running around and a mother fricking talking towel.

A TALKING TOWEL!

So I was surfing channels and Universal was showing The Cape. The episode synopsis was about Corbin Bernsen's NASA show, so I clicked on it and it was this Cape.

Finally saw both of these and I'm surprised that it was better than I expected. I think some of the acting and dialogue is weak, but I like the humor and I like the look of the Cape (so glad he put on a mask in the second ep). David and Frain are definitely the strongest actors here and to me are the anchors. Though Cape, Orwell, and Rollo are good. Mrs. Faraday is nice to look at and I've had a crush on Elise Neal for a long time so it was good to see her again.

I'm a little disappointed that there are no superpowers in this world, but I do like how Cape uses illusion and other tricks to mimick superpowers.

One thing I forgot to mention was I liked how he chose to become the Cape, a symbol of hope to his son. That was neater and more 'realistic' than having Faraday have a "I shall become a Bat" moment (apologies to Bruce Wayne).

Also, looking forward to seeing what the deal with Orwell is. I think she's tied to Chess in someway, a sister, lover, wife/ex-wife, niece, or something.

"Mommy don't give me any more thorazine, the people from my comics are coming to life and talking to me... It' really happening! Oh? What? What's an asylum?"

If the kid isn't smart enough to be wondering if he's bonkers and shut the fuck up, then he's stupid enough to tell people who will think he's bonkers and over medicate him in some home for the mentally delinquent.

In the original draft of the pilot, they would have shown her to be his daughter.

Now, that maybe different, as Summer and the guy playing Chess are close in age that would be challenging to believe.

Finally got to see these...the "Pilot" was good...it did feel rushed...should have been 2 hours on that and then "Tarot" which was paced better and I thought it was good too.

Summer Glau...

I am liking this show so far. :bolian:

Summer Glau- 29
James Frain - 42

Considering that Glau looks several years younger than her age (still), I think they have sufficient wiggle room there.

The bigger hold-up is that it would be too cliched.

Its a comic book;)

Just because it's based on a comic book doesn't mean we need to settle for crap. Low standards is what doomed Heroes. :rommie:
Seriously wasn't Heroes an attempt to put "super" characters into a real world like the Wild Card series of novels or  what was the name of the 90s comic book company? I don't see The Cape as trying to be a "real" guy with some skill or supernatural gift living in "our world' but rather a comic book world

The Cape WAS not a comic book before it was created as a TV show.

Do some of you actually think the cape is an adaptation of soemthing beloved and cherished by millions of fanboys all over the world?

It's basically rape.

Ongoing.

It is missing some charm...like SMALLVILLE had in the early seasons...I can see that they are trying to get that with Vince and his family...but it isn't emotional enough. I really don't like Chess/Peter Fleming...I think the whole ARK thing doesn't have enough edge. Orwell being kinda like Watchtower(Smallville) is interesting and I find her more interesting than the other characters to be honest...and Raia as played by Izabella Miko

As a psuedo comicbook/superhero series...it isn't as bad as some of the comments make it out to be...but it is far from great....and being on NBC doesn't help.
