Check the circuit!I found this clip on YouTube showing there was a video release of the full black and white 16mm version of The Cage. Gotta find a complete copy of this as it might have the deleted bits of dialogue excluded in other versions.

It looks great in B&W, this is what a 50's version of Trek would have looked like.
When I saw “The Menagerie” on the big screen in 2007, I was struck by how cinematic “The Cage” was compared to the frame story. The sets were solid and the lighting much less pedestrian. It depends on what kind of TV you had.
I think color made "The Cage" more cinematic. It could almost fit into the same universe as "Forbidden Planet."

I remember also going to the theatrical screening of The Menagerie in 2007, and being mildly disappointed that the event didn't include any souvenirs. When I saw “The Menagerie” on the big screen in 2007, I was struck by how cinematic “The Cage” was compared to the frame story. I don’t know if Haskin and Snyder could have continued that from week-to-week, but it sure popped as feature presentation.
Fitting forbidden Planet into Trek history sounds very interesting as Leslie Nielsen was a Kirk type of Captain I always thought!
