This is really a pity, after all it seemed as if South America had left this ugly right-wing crap behind. While the lefties down there are often too radical for my taste it is understandable that they have to be the way they are given this opposition and above all weak social democrats like in Brazil make virtually no progress on redistributing land which is not merely a matter of increasing wealth equality but also of efficiency. Joe Stiglitz has pointed out many years ago that in developing countries a more even land distribution also increases productivity.
For these fairly technical reasons and because the more radical left-wingers are the only ones who actually achieve anything in terms of land reform I am fully on their side.
What's your opinion on the issue, is this a coup or a just impeachment and will Paraguay be better or worse off with the new folks in power?
