The Better Comedy - Tribbles or Piece of the Action

The Trouble with Tribbles is widely considered as the best comedic trek of the series. I'm not sure if I share that opinion so I'm posing this question. Which episode was the better comedy, Tribbles or Piece of the Action. I ask because tonight I saw Piece of the Action and while it's a bit cheesy in spots, it was a fun time (This being the second time I've seen this episode since getting the DVD). From Spock telling Bella about the double negative, to Kirk's Driving (You make a great starship commander, but your taxi driving leaves much to be desired :guffaw:), this episode was tons of fun.

So what say you?

Shore Leave was another fun one. I would say Tribbles. The brawl between the Enterprise Crew and Klingon's is classic.

I always preferred "A Piece of the Action" above all other comedy episodes. I wonder if that has something to do with my fondness for Goodfellas and The Sopranos.

Now go get your f*ckin' shine box!

Hey T, you hear what I just said? I told him to go home and get his shine box.

I prefer A Piece of the Action. My favorite line from the episode is when Spock tells the gangster "I would advise youse to shut up and keep dialin'"

"Tribbles." Though "Action" is cheesier, more in-your-face and over-the-top it has its moments.

"Tribbles" is more realistic in its approach to the humor. "Action" just goes for the cheese factor shamelessly and doesn't apologize.

I loved Trouble with Tribbles as a comedy. It's silly and yet has very funny moments and dramatic moments (making the funny moments funnier). Piece of the Action seems mostly silly. And although I love Spocko and the "check" moments as well as Fizbin, nothing beats Scotty starting a fight with the Klingons and Kirk being hurt that his pal stuck up for the ship and not him.

Tribbles I find tiresome and lame.

Action is a lot of fun.

Spock's Brain is pretty hilarious, too.

If I wanted something for laughs, I'd definitely go with A Piece of the Action.

How come nobody mentioned I, Mudd yet?

I am leaning towards Piece of the Action. The whole Fizbin and the whole mobster thing...it was just classic.

I too think I, Mudd...is funnier than Tribbles. The whole shorting out of Norman plan was sheer classic...

Spock : "Logic is a little bird chirping in the meadow....Logic is a bunch of pretty flowers that smell bad"

Kirk : "Everything Harry says is a lie....
Mudd : "Norman....I'm lying...."

:)

"I, Mudd" has funnier, more creative moments than "Action". Even the slapstick seems to have more of a purpose than to say "hey...let's have Spock smack around a guy in an Al Capone suit."

Tribbles but it was a hard choice. Watched it the other day made me laugh lots. Plus I love the ensemble cast feel on Tribbles.

:)

Another vote for Tribbles. Hope I don't step on any toes saying this but Piece of the Action always got on my nerves. Haven't watched it in a while, though... maybe I'll pop it in this evening. Who knows, I may just come back and change my mind!

If we're gonna add "I, Mudd" to the mix, I'd rank that under "action" and over "Tribbles." Never cared much for "Tribbles"--not since I was a small child, at least--though I love the DS9 tribute episode.

I just watched "I, Mudd" for the first time today and I think I laughed more at that than I did with Tribbles or Piece of the Action.
