I think ST, despite its depiction of women, has always been about bromance. Fan service? Yes.

Still. Congratulations to the people who imagined and enacted this scene.

Are you asking why a God has to die?

If so, I tend to apply one of the fundamental principles of ST here. Clarke's Third Law: "any sufficiently advanced technology appears as magic" to those who do not possess it.

Perhaps it applies to Gods as well. Any sufficiently advanced person appears as God...

But this in no way suggests Gods cannot die. They just take a while longer to do so.

The show has had some great character moments, and that was perhaps the best.

This scene is up there, but I can't award it best. Picard and Q didn't kiss. They were building up to that and they didn't deliver. But otherwise a good scene.

I like DSC and PIC more than Berman Trek and came close to liking Picard more than Disco, so I'm obviously not a PIC Hater.

Q are immortal, and can only be killed by suicide or by other Q.

I thought "Death Wish" established that the Q's immortality was not quite as firm as the Continuum would like people to believe.
