TAS is essentially TOS' fourth season, hence, why it's discussed here.
In any case, of all the possible forums, there's no way Movies is the right place for a TAS discussion.
...In theory, if the movies were divided in three (TOS, TNG, Reboot), one could argue that the first category could absorb TAS because it's another post-TOS era product aimed at launching a proper spinoff some day (only it never mutated into a big screen movie, unlike some other things). But TAS certainly has little to do with ST:Insurrection...
Not to mention that the threefold division would have meant doctrinal wars with ST:Generations.

Wherever you put it, it's got its gems(such as 'Yesteryear')and some good stories. Why indeed not look at it as Season 4-5...

Low budget version of Roddenberry's concept. Nice to watch while you're playing with your Trek toys/models.
To do those episodes in live action would've caused the accounting department at Paramount to suffer a total meltdown.
I love TAS. It has some of the best Star Trek scripts of any series.
