Been watchign the 3rd Doctor for the first time in my life. Though i kind of went backwards as i started watching Dr Who in 2005 i figured i check out the old episodes.

Question i have though why is the tardis console in this living room?
What was the point behind it? Kind of neat though.

Not use to seeing the console somewhere else. Good episode so far.

The 3rd Doctor was trying to fix his Tardis for much of his run. The consol was often seen outside of the Tardis in this period.

After his trial the Time Lords altered his appearance and exiled him on earth in the 20th century after that he kept trying to get the TARDIS working him.

Really wow. As i said i just begun watching the 3rds episodes. Always thought the console was deeply connected through the Tardis and that it cant come apart. Guess all you needed was the console and not the tardis. So its possible to to stick that thing in a Delorean hmmm.

Thanks for the quick response.

To bad he didnt have a manual.

Any idea what a tardis looks like in its raw form? Like if the Chameleon Circuit was turned off or never turned on yet. Just wondered.

Great story Ambassadors of Death. The 2nd episode cliffhanger where the Doctor says "Right - cut it open!" is one of the best the series ever produced imo.

At the end of War games Troughtons Doctor is forced to regenerate into Pertwee, and was then exiled to earth as punishment for his part in the War games, plus the timelords remove his knowledge of Time travel and parts of the tardis that make it work.

He also removed the console from the tardis in the story Inferno, where its in a garage, and where his tampering of the console unit saw him thrown into a parallel earth.

The Dr was rewarded back his ability to time travel after defeating Omega in the three doctors.

Inferno

Wait til you get to 'Inferno'. :)

Not to mention the weirdness that happens in Day of the Daleks.

To Snick27, I'd recommend watching the first 3rd Doctor story, Spearhead from Space, if you haven't already. It sets the scene for much of what's going on with Pertwee's Doctor during this era of the show (not to mention it introduces a monster you might recall from the first episode of the new series). (I don't recall offhand if it's on DVD over here yet, though).

And as for how the Doctor got into this mess in the first place, The War Games is going to be out on DVD in North America this fall. Just make sure to set aside a few hours -- that story is 10 episodes long!

Cheers!

Alex

The Time Lords removed part of his memory of how to operate the TARDIS and he destroyed the demateralization circuit in his first story.

Having the console outside the Tardis meant that the BBC didn't have to have the set built for the earthbound episodes. Probably saved a bit of cash there!
