The Amazing Race: Blind Dates

To avoid hijacking the Survivor thread.

I have to wonder what the hell they were thinking with this premise. You'd think they would have learned their lesson from Mark & Mallory, Amazing Race depends on the people having preexisting chemistry.

And of course they're going to spend all season remarking that the blind dates are surprisingly doing better than the established couples. Only thing is, all the blind dates are young hot people and the established couples are generally older and less athletic other than the Olympians. So of course the blind dates are going to do better.

And why did they make selfie cams a thing with this show? Don't they know most people consider them douchey?

Based on the first episode, this could be the worst non-family edition of the show.

That one couple spent over THREE HOURS trying to get that dance thing learned? And they got the sake task done on the first try?

:guffaw:

Yikes. It looks like the doctor doesn't like the nurse very much. Or maybe it's just her squeaky voice. I know that annoyed me every time she talked.

I liked the "legal" team. They worked well together.

The "identical hairstyle-Ken doll" team... again, yikes. Please let them be eliminated soon.

When did this come back? I love TAR, but I didn't hear anything about the new season. I didn't watch last season because it was on Friday nights, which just never worked for me.

Wednesday night was the premiere. It was 3 hours of back-to-back Survivor/Amazing Race, as they both premiered last night.

The Amazing Race is moving to Fridays from now on, though.

I'm about ready to call this worst season ever next to family edition.

Forcing them to take selfies is just stupid. We're subjected to enough of that crap on the internet. Nobody thinks selfies are a good way to frame a picture of yourself, they just take them because it's easier than asking a stranger to take a picture of you and your buddy. Why in the name of God would you take selfies when a high end TV camera is pointed at you already capturing the moment in a better lit, better framed way?

It feels like something a parent would do in a desperate attempt to relate to their teenage child.

And pretty much all the dating couples are like 'Oh my partner is a good racing partner but no spark here. We will enjoy using each other to get half a million dollars.'

Yet they keep designing things around forced romantic imagery. Feeding each other noodles, 'Date night'? Nobody is buying it and the blind date teams are mocking it.
