The All-No-Championship team, Baseball edition

Ok, I was bored, and so I am trying to take the four major team sports leagues in the US, and for each come up with a team of the greatest players never to win a championship. I don't mean just a list of players, I mean go by positions and create a valid roster, ie a valid 25-man roster for baseball; all 5 positions and a bench for basketball; 12 forwards, 6 defencemen and 2 goalies for hockey; and a valid 53-man roster for football with at least one starter in each position.

Here is what I came up with for baseball; I tried to spread out the era of players as much as I could, and I had a little trouble coming up with a bullpen, as I didn't know whether or not to put middle/long relievers in this list (or what middle/long reliever deserves to go on this list in the first place.)

C – Carlton Fisk
1B – Eddie Murray
2B – Ryne Sandberg
3B – Ron Santo
SS – Ernie Banks
OF – Ted Williams
OF – Ken Griffey, Jr.
OF – Tony Gwynn
DH – Edgar Martinez
B – Harmon Killebrew
B – Barry Bonds
B – Jim Rice
B – Mike Piazza
B – Robin Yount
B – Alex Rodriguez

SP – Phil Niekro
SP – Don Sutton
SP – Gaylord Perry
SP – Jim Bunning
SP – Ferguson Jenkins
RP – Trevor Hoffman
RP – Jeff Montgomery
RP – Dave Righetti
RP – Jeff Brantley
RP – Todd Jones

MGR – Gene Mauch

Discuss or make any suggestions. I will come up with the other sports later.

If you make it players who have never even been to the World Series, then it becomes even sadder for Griffey, Sandberg, Martinez, etc.

Marcel Dionne
Pavel Bure
Jeremy Roenick
Pat Lafontaine
Trevor Linden
Eric Lindros
Adam Oates
Mats Sundin
Doug Gilmour
Denis Savard
Dale Hawerchuk
Dino Cicarelli

You could probably add Crosby and Ovechkin to the list, just because they're that good.

Phil Housley
Al "The Wild Thing" Iafrate
Dave Babych (just because of the mustache)
Dion Phaneuf
Mattias Norstrom
Sergei Gonchar

Roberto Luongo
Marty Turco

If this is suppose to be a list of players who never won a World Series, then you need to adjust your roster because Eddie Murray won with the Orioles in 1983.

NBA

John Stockton
George Gervin
Bernard King
Karl Malone
Patrick Ewing

Bench: Charles Barkley, Bob Lanier, Pete Maravich, Dominique Wilkins, Drazen Petrovic, Arydas Sabonis, Adrian Dantley.

I'd put A Rod at 3rd base or SS over Banks and Santo

Oops, sorry. Then, put Killebrew at 1B, and put Don Mattingly on the bench.

Football is going to be tough, as it is not only 53 players, it is you have to find a way to get all the positions covered with backups where possible. Add to the fact that you had 2 league championships pre-Super Bowl. I will start with the QB and some RBs:

QB - Dan Marino
QB - Jim Kelly
QB - Fran Tarkenton

RB - Barry Sanders
RB - Eric Dickerson

I am definitely going to need help on this one.

I would remove Dantley and add Reggie Miller.
