"The Airzone Solution" reviewed by Phelous & Linkara

Holy crap....these are the single worst "reviewers" I have ever seen on the internet. Yeah, I get it, the non Who movie is crappy. And I felt that way.....until I listened to these two fucking retards drone on with their non-review and non-existent humour.

It's like every idiot who owns a video camera, watches alot of movies and lives under the delusion that they're "funny" can't help but put "movie reviews" on the internet. It says alot about how bad they are when I actually got interested in a horrible movie because that horrible movie was light years better than their drivel was.

I actually thought Airzone Solution was quite good, and interesting for the fact it had Pertwee, Davison, Colin Baker and McCoy, plus Nicola Bryant, playing characters far removed from what we're used to them seeing. I didn't mind the love scene - this is Nicola Bryant we're talking about, and there was plenty of shipping going on in fandom back in the 80s between Peri and Five and Six (sometimes all 3 at once :eek: ). Plus there's the added bonus of Alan Cumming in an early role.

A few aspects of the story didn't make sense, but I thought it was interesting and well-acted. Hey - you even got to hear Peter Davison swear!

Now those expecting a Doctor Who story are going to be disappointed, and to be fair it was never promoted as one, or even as one of the arms-length spinoffs Reeltime and BBV made in the 90s. But once thing to remember is Airzone was produced primarily because the BBC cancelled its plans for a 30th anniversary special (Dimensions in Time doesn't count). In fact I read somewhere that Jon Pertwee actually did consider it a Doctor Who story in some respects. Consider the 40th anniversary Big Finish audio story Zagreus, and perhaps this was a Four Doctors story after all ...

Or they post their own news reports thinking that they can do it better than the professionals. Yeah, just because you can make your own "movie review show" or "news program" doesn't mean you should. It reminds me sometimes of when I was a little kid and mum and dad bought me my first tape recorder and I spent the first week or so recording nothing but funny noises and my brother farting.

I really like Phelous and Linkara separately, but this just wasn't a crossover that worked. Although I did enjoy Phelous trying to ruin the plot of the review and break the fourth wall to the annoyance of Linkara. Now Obscurus Lupa and the Cinema Snob -- there's an odd match that worked unbelievably well.

As for the movie, as much as I enjoy internet reviewers I never judge a movie based on their comedy reviews. Yes, Battlefield Earth is probably bad, but the Critic's review, funny as it was, doesn't count for anything. Same goes for this film.

A friend of mine over the years kept trying to get me to do video reviews and I kept telling him they would be bad. I'm sure I could write a good review but I'm someone who should not be seen or heard by the masses.

I just don't get video reviews. I have better things to do than watch/listen to 30 minutes of these people talk about a film. If it was written out, I would read it, and it would take me way less time.

It still surprises me that in this day and age that I would rather read a review than watch one. Oh sure, on occasion I might watch someones review of something but for the most part I would rather read a story than listen to it.

QFT = Quite Frelling Cool?

Just another couple of pasty geeks (the van dyke fools nobody) who need to get some gym time in and have nothing interested to say - as fun as the clap.

As someone mentions, if it was text, as least I could skim it and get back the 30 seconds of my life I wasted on that crap.

the Baker/Bryan love scene was very disturbing. as for the actual review...meh. i don't care much for Linkara. except for his History of Power Rangers vids. i don't really need someone to tell me Superman meets the NesQuik Bunny is a terrible comic. much less, do it in a very unfunny fashion.

I've never cared much for Phelous, and Linkara's hit or miss for me.

This was definitely a miss. Just not a very good review.

Oh well, plenty more fun material from that site.
