The 11th doctor's final moments revealed in "Forest of the Dead" ?

When Smith and Moffat leave, River's story is over.
What if the new executive producer decides to continue River's story? There's no end to River's possible appearances, because she meets the Doctor out of order anyway.

When Moffat leaves as the showrunner, it doesn't mean he won't write the odd episode allowing for more River I guess.

I like the theory that the singing towers, last-date Doctor was 10 during his slowly-dieing montage where he helps all his companions. It explains why River recognizes him in the library (though she also says she has pictures of all his faces) and it explains why her sonic looks like 10's and not 11's. It also fits with a strict interpretation of their relationship being backwards. (Even though I don't follow a strict interpretation)

It also works with her commenting on how he looks much younger. A post Waters of Mars/ End of Time 10 would look very old in his eyes indeed.

Yeah, I hadn't thought about it like that before, but if the SECOND time the Doctor ever saw River was at the Singing Towers, and that's when he gave her his screwdriver...

Hey, that works pretty damn well.

Too bad they didn't film it!

Maybe they did. And haven't broadcast it yet.

I am not sure that theory is viable. You have to remember when the Doctor regenerates at the end into Smith he still has the faulty screwdriver of ten. And Ten's sonic has no red setting or dampers. So you would be saying that he added them, got his sonic back, and reverted it back to it's original state? No I think it is more likely to think that the Doctor who took her out on a date before her "death" was 12th or 13th or whatever some later Doctor. Plus although there are always clearly adventures that are not filmed between episodes of the new series it would be odd to think that Ten took her on a date before she died during the dying montage when if you think about it when he meets her again as Eleven he still clearly does not know who she is and has not even kissed her yet or shared any romantic interest. He only has a working theory on who she was because of her saying his name in the library.

Also the library IS overrun by the Vashta Neurada. They gave them 24 hours to evacuate the 4022 people that were saved, not millions. But the Doctor of course is crazy fun and reckless so it would be simple to see him go back to the library to release her from the virtual world. She lives in a computer core and there is nothing to say that she will degrade ever as the computer core was around ATLEAST 100 years since it had been closed for that long. So we can probably expect at some point for the people living in the core to be freed even though they have no bodies. But bodies are simple...living plastic, human form machines, any number of a million ways to do it I mean come on....he is the Doctor.
