What if the new executive producer decides to continue River's story? There's no end to River's possible appearances, because she meets the Doctor out of order anyway. When Smith and Moffat leave, River's story is over.

I like the theory that the singing towers, last-date Doctor was 10 during his slowly-dieing montage where he helps all his companions. It explains why River recognizes him in the library (though she also says she has pictures of all his faces) and it explains why her sonic looks like 10's and not 11's. It also fits with a strict interpretation of their relationship being backwards. (Even though I don't follow a strict interpretation)
It also works with her commenting on how he looks much younger. A post Waters of Mars/ End of Time 10 would look very old in his eyes indeed.

Yeah, I hadn't thought about it like that before, but if the SECOND time the Doctor ever saw River was at the Singing Towers, and that's when he gave her his screwdriver...
Hey, that works pretty damn well.
Too bad they didn't film it!
