The $10/20/25/50/100,000 Pyramid

Was anyone else a fan of this game show? I started thinking about it the other day and YouTubed some clips in addition to catching some of the reruns on GSN.

This is easily my favorite game show of all time. I vaguely remember when it aired on CBS in the daytime as "The New $25,000 Pyramid" and saw many of the reruns on USA in the early to mid 1990s, as well as the GSN reruns in recent years.

I always broke out into a sweat watching the contestants climbing the pyramid in the winner's circle - especially when it was tournament week and they could win for $100,000. It was just so tense to watch and I couldn't even imagine what it must have been like to actually be sitting there playing in front of the live audience. I think what it made it so bad was the sound effect of the clock counting down from 60.

I dug out the old PC game, which was released back in 2001 and started playing. While playing with the computer is somewhat of a bore, if you get your friends in on playing it's SO much fun. I got my roommates together and we all sat around to play and it was just awesome. I give the best clues. :D

But yes, love, LOVE this show.

Recently, a new pilot was filmed called Million Dollar Pyramid, which was set to replace one of the soaps that was cancelled on CBS, but the network passed in favor of a new version of Let's Make a Deal.

There are reports that Pyramid may still make it to TV sometime in 2010. I really, really hope that it does.

The $1,000,000 Pyramid just sounds amazing!

I loved those Pyramid shows. I watched them zealously when I was a kid. Now I've got that damn theme song in my head. :brickwall:
