Tex Murphy Kickstarter

The recent cavalcade of kickstarters has finally reached something I care about as much as a new tim schafer game - a new Tex Murphy game!

Dunno how many people remember them, but I thought under a killing moon, overseer, etc were great games, and I'm really hyped for this. Thankfully since the programming lead, Chris Jones, also starred as Tex Murphy in the old games, the most important casting decision is already worked out!

I remember The Pandora Directive very well:techman:
One of my favorite games of all time, I would dare to say:cool:
Very good adventure with nice interactive movie build around it.
Interesting characters, good story..and Tex Murphy was easy to relate to, because he did not always succeed so well:D
It is very cool that they are trying to make another one.

I haven't posted on this site in years... I've just been an occasional lurker...

I had to chime in here, though. I got my screen name from Tex Murphy. The Pandora Directive is in my top five games ever, and it was Tex that got me interested in PC games in the first place.

I'm really hoping this Kickstarter is successful. It will be great to have Tex back after we've been left hanging for 15 years. The games were so ahead of their time. Even today, full 3D exploration in adventure games is practically unheard of. The stories were well written, and you actually felt an emotional attachment to the characters, something many recent games fail to accomplish.

It's a shame that the series has been in limbo for 15 years, a victim of the decline in the adventure genre and Microsoft's buyout of Access Software.

I have only played Under A Killing Moon. It was a bit clunky, but enjoyable adventure with some puzzle elements if I remember correctly. Never managed to find The Pandora Directive for myself.

All of the games are available fairly cheaply on GOG.com. They have been fixed up to run on modern PCs too. Pandora is definitely worth a go.
