News sites are reporting that Terry Pratchett has died. :(

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-31858156

Best known for the Discworld series, Sir Terry wrote more than 70 books over his lengthy career.

He was first diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2007, but continued writing, completing his final book last summer.

The author died at home "with his cat sleeping on his bed, surrounded by his family," Mr Finlay said.

I guess we knew this was coming, but still horrible news. :(

Devastated. His final tweets are what got me.

What a guy. Changed my view of the world, and all the better for it.

To say he'll be missed is an understatement.
Someone elsewhere here compared him to Shakespeare. I'll have to think about that, but... they might not be wrong.

I have only read a few of the Discworld a few years ago. I have meant to return to them but never did. Maybe I should read one to remember Terry by.

RIP, Terry Pratchett.

Yeah, somebody compared him to Shakespeare. I compared him to Mark Twain. He was definitely in their league. He had the same gift of insight and the ability to use language like a laser beam for the purpose of delivering that insight into your skull.

RIP, Terry Pratchett. :(
