Terry O'Quinn joins Hawaii Five-0

Dream

In what marks the most high-profile Lost reunion since the ABC phenom signed off last year, O’Quinn is joining the cast of CBS’ Hawaii Five-0 in a pivotal recurring role.

The gig not only brings the Emmy winner back to the Aloha State, but it reunites him with Lost castmate and Five-0 regular Daniel Dae Kim.

O’Quinn will play a Navy Seal Lt. Commander who trained Alex O’Loughlin’s McGarrett in Coronado, and served with his father in Vietnam.

This is great news. Good to see Terry back on TV.

I can get behind this. Maybe he and Daniel Dae Kim will get some good scenes together. They barely had any screen time together during Lost.

Though it wasn't quite my favorite show, I really did enjoy Hawaii Five-0 this past season and was glad that it got the pick-up. Hearing the news of Terry O'Quinn joining the cast only makes it that much better.

I take it Hallelujah didn't get picked up. It's a shame he's not getting more movie gigs these days because he's one hell of an actor. Personally I think his talent will be kind of wasted on a procedural like 5-0.

A cop show is not the right place for him, unless the role is like the one Michael Emerson has on Person of Interest.

This is great news!

I shotgunned Hawaii Five-0 at the end of the season in about 4 days and (maybe it was because my expectations were low to begin with but) I loved the heck out of it. I'm liking the character dynamic of the show. Plus, It's not just a cookie-cutter procedural, it's also got a few long-haul arcs to come back to over the course of the season.

Again, not my favorite show by any means, but I'll be watching Season 2 after that cliffhanger finale for sure, especially with Terry Quinn to look forward to.

(Also, I think Hawaii itself had something to do with this particular deal, TQ loved living there)

Comments from Hawaii Five-0 producer Peter Lenkov and actor Daniel Dae Kim

CBS announced that O'Quinn will first appear in the season premiere as a Navy Seal Lt. Commander who trained McGarrett in Coronado. He served in Vietnam with McGarrett's father and may have some answers about the murder of his parents.

"We are all honored and excited that Emmy Award-winning Terry O'Quinn, has joined our Hawaii Five-O 'ohana' (Hawaiian for family)," said Executive Producer Peter Lenkov. "O'Quinn's character, who we will meet in the premiere, is going to be a major contributor to our team...because he taught McGarrett everything he knows."

O'Quinn's new role also reunites him with his fellow Lost co-star Daniel Dae Kim, who had this to say about working with him again: "He's a great actor who brings a sense of ease and professionalism to every project he works on, and I'm excited to work with him again."

Oh man, this is awesome news! I've really enjoyed the show so far. It is a procedural, but not a typical one. The season long story arcs are very welcome and some of the casting goes from great to cheesy awesome. This falls in the "great" category.
