Tell a TNG Story, a little at a time.

Troi’s expression relaxed for a moment, and she responded, “I’m just fine, Data, why do you ask?” Then, after a beat, she bellowed, “Of course I’m not alright, you stupid piece of tin!”

For a moment Picard wondered how to react when a familiar voice rang out:
"Imzadi!" It was Riker, except that his eyes were red. He had been behind one of the low walls Picard, Data and Troi had been passing.
"Come on, curl up in my mind!" demanded Riker, almost snarling as he grabbed at Deanna's arm.
"Commander?" Data seemed unsure.

Deanna was frightened as she tried to pull away from the red glint in Riker's eyes and that almost feral smile.

"Will you're hurting me!"

Data gently but firmly prised Riker's arm away from Deanna's. Riker offered little resistance and continued to stand there smiling maniacally and staring at Troi, who was unnerved by this turn of events.

---- TIME-OUT ----

Chrisisall, have you actually been reading the story so far, or was that just snide?

Argus, shall we continue this story or leave it be? I thought it dropped off just when things were getting interesting.
---- TIME-IN ----

TIMEOUT

I'd like to carry on if you guys do....

END-TIMEOUT

Waves of Farengi crack merchant/troops rushed towards them. Picard raised his phaser as the leading soliders reached him and passed straight through his body!.

"See?" said Riker trimuphantly, the disturbing grin getting wider. "I can make anything for you, Imzadi!".

TIMEOUT

Good one Tiger!

END TimeOUT

Picard turned around looking annoyed.

"Picard to Enterprise"

"Worf here."

"Lieutenant, lock-on to Commander Riker and beam him to his quarters. He is relieved of duty and is to be confined there until further notice."

"Aye sir."

"Oh, and Lieutenant. Have Dr. Crusher run neurological scans on Riker."

TIMEOUT
Thanks!
END-TIMEOUT

Riker laughed. "Oh, if only it were that easy old man" he said as the transporter beamed him away.

"Councillor?" asked Picard.
"I'm fine - let's find out what is going on" Deanna replied.

They reached the Chyrkaugh. It was heavily damaged by the earlier fighting, and pretty much as Data had last seen it, except there was a tall Klingon woman standing in it.

"This is Baldura" said Data, "she seems to be here for her wedding".

Picard stepped up to her. "Perhaps you can tell us what is going on?"

Baldura spoke in a low, smooth voice. "You are attempting to send a representative to the Peace Conference. That would disrupt the Ambassador's plan to escalate this much-needed war. We are doing all in our power to stop you."

TIMEOUT
Sorry to abandon the thread for awhile. I've been a bit busy.
TIMEIN

"Much needed war!?" Picard was outraged. "How can you ustify that? Needed for what?"

Baldura looked at Picard as if he had crawled out from under a rock.
"You federation bipeds think you have a monopoly on morality" she said finally.

"Bipeds?" said Data "but you are a biped yourself, are you not?"

Baldura rolled her eyes. "My natural form is none of your business. As for the war, this species can only benefit from a cleansing that removes the inferiors from the gene-pool. The war will be controlled to make certain that the most useful ones will survive."

Back on the Enterprise Dr. Crusher scanned Commander Riker, Worf and an security guard stood ready, should Riker try anything.

"So what does your little toy tell you?" Riker asked, clearly amused by the procedure.
"I'm not sure, except there's someone else in there with you, Will" Dr. Crusher replied, as she tried to make sense of the tricorder readings.

Riker laughed and stood up. "I'm sure you'll work it out one day" he said making toward the door. Work and the security guard drew their phasers.

Picard felt ice in his veins.

"What right have you to say which genes are better?" he demanded.
"Foolish people have tried this before, Hitler, Kodos and many others - all to their ultimate downfall" - rage was making it hard for him to speak.

"But you keep trying it." said Baldura infuriatingly calm. "There is nothing you can do to stop me - most of your senior officers are - or shortly will be - in my power."

On the Enterprise, Worf and the other guard fired at Riker, phasers on stun. Riker only closed his eyes, smiled, and inhaled deeply as though being refreshed by the energy. "Your worthless weapons will have no effect now. I've been building up my strength inside this body," he said.

His eyes glowed red, then gold, and then for a moment, blinding white. In the glare, Crusher thought she saw the image of a reptilian humanoid with scales and a huge alligator grin, standing where Riker had been. Then, as quickly as it had come, the brilliance faded and Riker's body was back.

The thing in Riker's body said, "Soon I will have all of you under control on behalf of Baldura and the Ambassador. There is no one on this ship that knows how to stop me."

"Don't be so sure about that, Laqinus," said the little girl who was now standing behind him. It was the Ambassador's daughter, who Crusher had defiantly beamed aboard after the attack on the village.

Riker/Laqinus laughed. "Hi little girl" he said, "here, have this for Captain Picard Day!".
He reached behind his back with one hand and brought out a soft-toy Captain Picard and offered to the girl.

She regarded it with some disdain, appearing far more mature than her apparent age.
"I think you have me confused with a human child" she said calmly.

Riker/Laqinus laughed again but this time there was a nervous edge to it.

The girl's own eyes suddenly glowed cool blue. A green, florescent mist rose from the girl's head, drifted toward Riker's head, and flew into it. Riker grabbed his head, cried out in apparent pain, and fell to his knees.

"No! Noooo!" he cried.

Beverley, Worf and the security guard stood amazed as Riker's body seemed to grow younger whilst simultaneoulsy a translucent grean dome enveloped the girl and first officer.

"Aww! That's girl's stuff" - the voice was that of a ten year old boy - which was how Riker appeared. He was seated at a low, round table, accross from the girl. Upon the table was a doll's table and "seated" at that table were toys of Picard, Deanna, Data and Baldura.

Back at the Chyrkaugh, Picard continued to protest - his speach center formed the words "What right do you have to use the inhabitants of this planet for your amusement?" but when he opened his mouth what came out was: "What a nice tea party! Is Teddy invited?"

Deanna was astonished to find her reply was "Yes, Teddy helped me with my enginearing exam - I hope he can come"

Baldura jumped up and down and shook violently from side to side, screaming:
"No! Teddy is not nice! He did a bad thing! Teddy can't come!".

Confused, Crusher and Worf watched the girl and the now ten-year-old Riker sitting across from each other with the dolls between them. Crusher leaned over and asked the girl, "What is going on?"

"I'm distracting him. I'm giving him a tea-party so he won't want to kill us all." The girl then looked worried. "I'm afraid those dolls I created to distract him are too powerful. They are probably controlling your friends back on the planet. I'll just replace them." With that, the Picard, Deanna, Data and Baldura dolls disappeared, and generic fashion-girl dolls appeared in their places.

Back on Melquiz, Picard, Deanna, Data and Baldura found they once more had control over their own bodies.
