Teena Marie: RIP.

Soul sensation Teena Marie -- famous for being one of the most successful white artists in R&B, nicknamed Lady T and the Ivory Queen of Soul -- passed away Sunday at the age of 54.

Here's The New York Times story detailing her successes and sudden death. She was only 5' tall, but had a powerful voice, a great example of what they used to call "blue-eyed soul."

You will be missed, Teena Marie. RIP.

I'm not that familiar with her, but I do remember her from the 80s. What a terrible shame to die so unexpectedly at such a young age. RIP, Teena Marie.

I really only know of her because I went to the same high school that she did though she was 11 years older than me so we didn't go at the same time. I remember when I was going there I heard some people brag that she had gone to our school.

Sometimes, a song from the soundtrack doesn't even get played on the movie. Or, only for a few seconds.
