Teaser trailer for Starz's Magic City (starts spring 2012)

Eh, nothing about that appeals to me in the least.

Keep trying, Starz. Eventually you'll stumble across something good.

Looks like shit warmed over.
Go Starz! Attain that mediocrity!

Quality is hard to do, especially when you're competing with Showtime and HBO (not to mention AMC and FX). Starz would be better off just going full-bore for the sleaze. Look at something like American Horror Story, you can get strong ratings and a lot of buzz without actually needing to be coherent or good. Just hire good actors and make them do some really crazy shit. Works like a charm! :rommie:

Here's an idea for Starz, a show about CIA drug experiments in the 60s that slops over to Timothy Leary and crazy counterculture happenings. They certainly don't need to stick with historical reality. Just go hog wild.

I really would like to see something different. It all follows the same formula, and dialogue that was 'snappy' and 'witty' about five years ago just isn't going to cut it now. They're late to the party seemingly every time. If they really believe in their brand, they need to push harder and be creative. As it stands, I still consider HBO at the head of the pack.

I can't see the trailer from here (youtube is blocked at work) but this is a new series starring Christian Cooke, known to Doctor Who fans as the uber hottie UNIT soldier Ross.

That alone will get thousands of pairs of eyes watching this series. Especially if he gets his kit off, as they're fond of doing on Starz. :)

Yeah, the trailer just fell flat for me. And I like Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

I'd move this story from Miami to Havana, during the last days of Batista. Now we're talking! Give us the most dramatic, action-packed milieu possible for any premise.
