Team Fortress 2

The Great Meech

Vice Admiral
Admiral
Anyone else here play? I only got it late last week (thank you, weirdly good Steam sale that's unfortunately over now), and though I'm pretty, well, bad at it, I'm finding it a ton of fun. It takes two things I normally hate--the FPS genre and multiplayer--and wraps it in a nice cartoony wrapper and gives me the RPG style choice of changing my job when I keep getting a big bucket of fail poured on my head.

I'm a big fan of playing Pyro (although I wish one of his taunts had him saying a muffled version of the phrase "Are you my mummy?"), and Heavy, because my naive urge to rush the enemy usually doesn't end miserably when you're blowing your fine competitors apart with a minigun.

When it comes to TF2, I am a lethal Demoman. Can't spy to save my life though...literally.

TF2 is awesome. I love the visual style of it, very unique and kooky. I almost always play the spy. I get myself killed A LOT, but I just can't help it....I love knifing people in the back. :p

Yeah I just went out and picked up The Orange Box earlier this week too! I'm loving TF2. I spent a lot of my misbegotten youth playing TFC and this is definitely better.

Sadly, I'm not better  I'm routinely getting pwned like the n00b I am.

I'm finding that I'm having most success as the Heavy or Spy, though.

Oh yes. Pyro here and man, do I love my job. Burn, baby, burn.

I'm actually pretty competent in every class with the exception of the spy. I never did get around to learning how to play that class well.

I'm a terrible scout--but, then again, the team I was playing on consisted of four scouts, a medic, and a demoman who probably very angry at the rest of us. I'm bad with sniper--half the time I just switch to the machine gun and rush the enemy because I'm tired of being killed by spies and other, better snipers. And I'll only play soldier on Badwater Basin, because it's the only map I find using the rocket launcher any fun on.

Oh, and Engy is the only class I still have to play a complete round as to get the "Head of the Class" accomplishment. I'm waiting to find a game with 30 seconds left in it to get it over with.

Love TF2. I played it a ton on the 360, then played some on the pc version to play with a friend and try some of the extra maps and stuff. I play a mix of everything, though I probably play pyro, medic, demoman, engineer and heavy.

I have my good moments and my crummier moments.

Just last night, I managed to rack up over 100 points on a single 2fort match with roughly 80 kills. The flamethrower owns. IT OWNS!

I finally got Head of the Class. I had to use an achievement server, where nobody noticed how terrible I was with Engy, to do it. I feel a little dirty now.

I'm firehawk12 on Steam.

I'll admit that I grinded the achievements myself... mainly because I wanted to test the new weapons.

I've been playing since it came out and have earned some skill with just about every class other than sniper (which I refuse to play*) and spy (which I just haven't put enough time into).

I mostly play Pyro, Demo and Soldier, though my demo skills have atrophied.

If anyone wants to look me up, I play mostly on the west coast servers with a few buddies of mine as "el.Sol".

*Snipers ruin games like this that often involve only one or two paths through a level that one HAS to travel down. It isn't that playing one doesn't involve skill, but just having a good ping and decent placement can allow even unskilled snipers to dominate some battlefields. for those of us who don't want to play sniper or spy in order to counter them, they take away the fun of fighting it out with the opposing players with random "BOOMHEADSHOTYOUREDEAD"s sprinkled throughout an otherwise fun game. 'Instakill' classes are tricky to balance in an otherwise instakill-less game(ignoring crits, which aren't reliable). I honestly think the game would be far better without them. Spies, though able to kill instantly with the backstab, are much easier to counter using the other basic classes and don't require a change in your play just to get them out of the way. Snipers have a place in realistic FPS games, but TF2 could do without.

Well, snipers still need to charge their shot before firing to do more damage. Although I suppose a head shot is a head shot.

I was playing it for awhile, but now I am waiting for the next class update (adding new achievements and weapons). It's pretty addictive.

Being a spy is unbelievably hard. I always run into a suspicious pyro who kills me, or someone shooting at their teammates to spycheck. Of course, it would be about 100x easier to be a spy if friendly fire was on in this game...

In that case, the Pyro class would need to be removed entirely, and everyone would hate all the classes with splash damage, and turrets would be constantly killing team-mates in the way of enemy targets, etc. etc. etc.

I remember TFC from years ago, and the pyro was a fun class but hard to get kills with.

I never was a good sniper, I did piss off an enemy sniper by killing him with two quick shots instead of one red-dot power shot.

I never cared for Scout class. Never tried Spy really.

I'd go for TF2, but my system meets minimum requirements but not recommended ones.
