After recently counting, I discovered that I currently own 250 movies on DVD (not counting the recent Christmas haul). So I've put them in alphabetical order, divided them into 5 brackets of 50 films each, and given each bracket its own poll. This week, we're on bracket 3. The top 10 from each bracket will be put into the Mega Movie Finals in a few weeks. So far, the results have been...

Bracket 1 winners
Alien
Aliens
Apollo 13
Back to the Future
Batman (1989)
Batman Returns
Batman Begins
Casablanca
Casino Royale
The Departed

Bracket 2 winners
Die Hard
Dr. Strangelove
E.T.
The Fifth Element
Galaxy Quest
Ghostbusters
Goldeneye *
Hot Fuzz *
The Incredibles
Independence Day *
(Indiana Jones & the) Raiders of the Lost Ark
Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade

What do I plan on doing with this information. I don't know. I just felt compelled to do these polls. But I'm up for suggestions on what further use these polls can be beyond their own ends.

In the meantime, enjoy bracket 3! As always, you can vote for 10 movies.

( * = More than 10 movies in the top 10 because there was a multi-way tie for 10th place.)

Lethal Weapon
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior
Master & Commander
The Matrix
The Mummy (1999)
The Nightmare Before Christmas

I had been planning on only voting for one movie from every series of movies, but then you went and put the LotR trilogy up there and I just had to vote for all three!

Inside Man
Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back
A Knight's Tale
Lethal Weapon
Lethal Weapon 2
Live Free or Die Hard
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
The Lost Boys
The Matrix
The Nightmare Before Christmas

Jurassic Park
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
Mad Max
Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior
Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World
The Matrix
Men in Black

This was a tough bracket - the first where there were a good 17 films that I would have liked to cast a vote for. The other major contenders for a vote were Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, Lethal Weapon, and The Nightmare Before Christmas, with Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls, Iron Man, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and Live Free or Die Hard a little further down the pecking order.

Interesting voting this time around. (BTW, I apologize to those earliest respondents who were somehow able to reply to the thread while I was still making the poll.)

My picks:
Iron Man
Jurassic Park
A Knight's Tale
The Living Daylights
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
The Lost World: Jurassic Park
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Once Upon a Time in Mexico

Honorable mentions for Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, Mission Impossible, Mission Impossible III, and Night Watch.

Damnit, I first saw this thread title and thought it said "Mega Man Movie".

I, Robot
Jurassic Park
King Arthur
The Matrix
The Matrix Reloaded
The Matrix Revolutions
Mission Impossible
M:i:II
M:i:III
Night Watch

Someone else has seen Night Watch right?

For my money, Day Watch is far superior to Night Watch. It's less talky and a lot easier to understand. It also ups the action to insane levels. But then, it's directed by the same guy who did Wanted (and Wanted is one of his subtler, more realistic movies).
