Take Me Out To The Holosuite --- my "Dream Team" starting lineup

eobard

Ensign
Red Shirt
Hey folks! Currently on a DS9 binge, and my ten-year is hooked on the baseball episode. Being a diehard baseball fan myself, I can personally relate to this episode.

If I can choose any personnel from Starfleet, my "Dream Team" lineup would be the following, in order and position:

Starting lineup:
SS Jake Sisko
3rd Ben Sisko
CF Bashir
P Data
RF Spock
LF Tuvok
1st Worf
C Odo
2nd Nog

Reserves:
B4
Lore (not exactly a Starfleet employ, but...)
Kurn (neither is he!)
Seven of Nine

Ok. Maybe not all of them are Starfleet. But anyways....
I chose Jake to be the leadoff hitter, since (next to B. Sisko) he has the most baseball experience, plus he's pretty young (lots of energy and stamina) and seems quick. He's playing shortstop, so he can be the captain of the infield. Captain Sisko would be a good number two hitter since, like Jake, he has plenty of baseball experience, and would likely be a good contact hitter. Bashir is the number three hitter since he's genetically enhanced (physically and mentally); he'd probably be a good for-averages hitter, like Wade Boggs. He plays center, as he may has an edge over the Vulcans in the outfield (he's probably faster than Tuvok and Spock). Centerfielders typically are the fastest of the three outfielders. I put Data as the cleanup hitter because he brings 'em all home. And as a machine, probably no pitches would get by Data (unless you either hit him intentionally, or walk him) and he's physically superior to everyone else on the lineup (that is, with the most power). As a pitcher, he will never tire, and will certainly bring in the heat. Since Spock is a righty and Tuvok is a lefty, I placed the Vulcans back to back to force the opposing team to change pitchers (opposing managers hate having a lefty/righty (and vice versa) matchup). Worf is next to protect Tuvok. He's at first, the same position he was in the episode. I placed Odo as catcher because, as a changeling, he can really widen his girth, and as such, any ball pitched will *never* get by and roll to the backstop. Besides, with Data's pin-point accuracy, all Odo needs to do is hold up his catcher's mitt and set a target. Nog is the second baseman because he's small and quick --- typical of your average second baseman. He hit a triple against that Vulcan team. I could have placed him as the leadoff hitter, but having Nog as number nine, and Jake as number one, there could be a chance that, during the game, you can have Nog leading off an inning.

This could be a pretty devastating team to shut down those Vulcans. Hell, just Data alone as the pitcher can send them home.

What's YOUR "Dream Team"?
