Syfy confirmed it will not be bringing action series Sanctuary back for a fifth season.

In a statement, Mark Stern, President, Syfy Original Content and Co-Head, Universal Cable Productions, said: "We're honored to have been part of this incredible series. In addition to garnering unmatched devotion by fans worldwide, Sanctuary was a bona fide trailblazer, setting new standards with its highly innovative production techniques -- including pioneering green screen and RED camera technology -- and Emmy-nominated visual effects. It's been an amazing ride and we look forward to our next project with Amanda Tapping, Martin Wood and Damian Kindler."

In the statement, Kindler, Tapping and Wood said: "We couldn't be prouder of the four seasons we made on Sanctuary. We are very grateful for the opportunity and must acknowledge the wonderful work from our cast and crew, the support from our studio, the Beedie Group -- who have been with us right from the start, the networks who worked so hard with us each week, and most of all the fans...we owe so much to the fans.

I never could get into the show but I feel bad for all it's fans.

Bummer, I was hoping they would go for one more season. the Season 4 finale, really set a possible season 5 for some very interesting stories. Fortunately, S4 finale also works quite well for a Series Finale, so, although sad, at least we don't see it end on a horrible cliff hanger, like Farscape S4 (If Peacekeeper Wars had never been made)

Last I heard, the Producers do still have the option, if SyFy passes, to find someone else to air another season. Not sure how that stands today though.

Yeah, the lack of any announcement either way for all this time wasn't a promising sign.

It had a decent run. Not my favorite Syfy show, but I still enjoyed the ride.

The real question is when is SyFy going to change it's name to the Not SyFy channel. :p
They did, when they changed their name to SyFy. That's kinda like Diamonelle (or however it's spelled) as a name for a Faux Diamond

I think I'm now down to just Merlin as far as what I watch on SyFy :(

Hardly a surprise, especially since most of the behind the scenes staff are now working on that new Primeval spin-off.

Yeah, not a big surprise, but still disappointing. I loved this show. But we did get a nice solid ending that still lets us know that the characters and the Sanctuary continue on. Perhaps there will be reunion movies or novels.

Or NetFlix. :D

I really enjoyed Sanctuary, and am sad to see it go. Not surprised though, and I do agree that the S4 finale was a pretty good series finale. I remember thinking after watching it that I could easily see it ending there, and apparently it did.

Well I had a feeling this was going to happen. At least the series ended with some closure.

Now the only shows left on SyFy worth watching are Warehouse 13 and Being Human, but probably not for much longer.

If sanctuary had the same production rates as finding bigfoot, it would still be on the air.

besides, even if the cast that need a paycheck, to support their house of card lives, leave... Sanctuary the webisodes could still continue with the minor characters given some promotions.

It's the last episode of House.

Second to last?

"Robert Chase" Bobbie Chase. Mocking Bird. Hawkeye the Avengers wife.

Pissed. Took a while, but they got the show interesting-and finito. Eureka is wrapping up-that leaves W13, then I'm done with these clowns.

If anything is surprising, it's that it had been renewed for a fourth season in the first place. One of the season three episodes pulled in only 0.656 million viewers.

On that note, turned on the television this morning and was flipping through channels. Go to SyFy and noticed they are just airing Ghost Hunters International all day long. Not that I am surprised but it just makes you say....really Syfy? Really? That's the programming you have?

Are they treading water drowning slowlier, or are they learning to fly?

Scifi obviously didn't make them money and it failed.

Maybe after they're back in the black, they can start to lose millions and millions of dollars again with original poorly received scripted syfy media again? Maybe, but why on earth would they slit their wrists like that agian after every other time they slit their wrists like that it ended so gracelesly?

You have to assume that they're desperate?

It's this or bankruptcy?

It's not like they have a choice.

People who would teach their children to like scifi can't get laid.

NASCAR will never have that problem.

We were outbred.

Pure and simple.
