TV Shows on DVD.com is reporting that there are plans to release both the 1975 original version of Terry Nation's post-apocalyptic Survivors series and the recent 2008 remake to DVD in North America.

No dates are given, but apparently the BBC is planning to release the original and the two seasons of the remake (I didn't realize it had been renewed) once the remake airs in the US. Presumably that means a broadcaster - BBC America, maybe? - has picked it up?

Lots of Doctor Who connections in this show. Aside from the Terry Nation connection, the original show featured guest stars like Patrick Troughton, while Freema Agyeman is among the cast of the remake.

The original series also starred recurring TNG guest star Carolyn Seymour.

According to BBCA's website the show will premiere Saturday Feb. 13th. I'm not sure what you have your DVR set to record, but nothing remotely similar is showing up on the BBCA schedule for Tuesday.

I'm looking forward to the show being broadcast. I remember the original, it was one of those shows where the whole family sat and watched. Will seriously consider the DVD's especially the original!

My bad-figured this out last night-had my wires crossed on which shows coming out when. :alienblush:

Survivors: The Complete Original Series
more than 31 hours of material
As with other BBC shows of the period, Survivors was produced on videotape for studio interiors, and on 16mm film for exteriors, the latter accounting for about 60-70% of the average episode. (Later shows rely on videotape throughout.)
