If they'd thumped Janeway and jumped ship for Romulan Space during the confusion, if they could bargain and diplome (not a word, but I LIKE IT! Diplomb? Diplumb?) past the Romulan Star Empire until they were in a position to shatter the Cardassian Union with fore knowledge and advances technology while the Cardassians were still mewling about raping Bajor, and then hammer that advantage back to their dusty homeworld shaking it to the brink of a spoonhead apocalypse end of days no historian after the fact would mistake as meek or graceful.
Thus sidelining all suddenly moot conflict between the Maquis and the federation, since the Cardassians would never be in a position to sabre rattle with Starfleet ipso facto the Marquis would have won their war 20 years before the stupid bastard even started... Or possibly some clever bloodless option. But considering at the time what they were doing to Bajor, kid gloves be damned. Damned I say, damned.
There were Bajorans on Board Voyager.
I think their opinions on determinedly leaving sleeping dogs lay for such an epic address from their peoples timeline wouldn't do much else but bunch their fists at the temporal prime Directive (which didn't exist in these earlier time lines we observed) of HUMAN (Federation) Laws chuffawing derision at at such academia and blue sky idealism with lemon dipped razor harsh expletives to some gross effect since obviously their gods, their living gods are from beyond time, who would only easily have the opportunity to let any little time breakers know that if they were breaking bad, that their gods whose job it was to stop them, would bloody well stop them.
Consider the alternative?
A decades long slow boat to a life sentence in a prison cell in Huntly, New Zealand with their tail between their legs content with having not only just lost but forfeited while all their friends and family back home were still fighting and dying in war against the bloody Cardies and head up their asses idiots wearing Janeways uniform, too afraid to do the right thing just because some political greasy grabass which imposes the opposite?
