Supernatural 6x8 "All Dogs Go to Heaven" spoilerish/discussion

Nope, I checked because I know of no professional sports happening tonight.

Its being pushed to Saturday because of....College basketball.....Seriously college basketball.

200 quatloo's on the fact that sam would use a mass extermination device to get rid of all those people's.....
regardless of whether or not their good or evil.

WOW. Sam is so cold it's scary. That last scene was the most brutally frank thing I've ever seen on this show. Here comes my doggy to turn me into a skinwalker. Hi hannah bear. Okay, she just wants a treat.

Tonight's was a decent episode. I like the whole twist on the family dog and his motives for doing what he did. But, honestly, I was more interested in the Sam/Dean storyline. I like the final scene between Dean and Soulless Sam and Soulless Sam being completely honest and upfront for once. And I hope this helps them work more as a team for getting back his soul. I thought for a moment that he was going to say he didn't want his soul back but him saying that he did and that his reason was that there were some parts of the old Sam he miss were good enough for me. However, I do think it's just a matter of time before Dean and Soulless Sam butt heads on the subject before Sam is re-souled. And concerning the things he told Dean that he done in the past year, I wouldn't be surprised if re-souled Sam will be a complete post-traumatic emotional mess.

Well he should be, first off he would have to deal with his Hell experience, then of course he already has the guilt for any harm Lucifer's rising cost, and then of course every thing occurred during this period as well. Oh and if Sam's soul is still in hell, then he is down in the Pit vastly longer then Dean was, and stuck with Lucifer himself not to mention the dick that is Michael, so he should be seriously fucked up.

Another just merely okay episode. It didn't do anything wrong but it didn't do anything right either. I won't repeat for the umpteenth time the issues I have had with the show but needless to say they were here once again.

The only moment that really got me was the shot of the skinwalker resuming his dog form after being rejected--it was only a few seconds but the most powerful scene in an otherwise going through the motions episode. Supernatural is perfectly content being safe and formulaic. It never takes the more shocking intriguing route.

"It never takes the more shocking intriguing route", rather bold statement. Well the guys let a skinwalker live, one who was killing people. Thats not shocking for this show? Seriously. When's the last time a mortal coil creature that was deliberately killing people was let loose upon the world by the guys?

He killed one person because they were getting evicted? One for apparently pushing another person? And they let him live.

Well I am still running through the episodes and I still can't think of one time the guys didn't try and cap someone who was deliberately killing someone that was "a typical monster". Both Dean and "Not Sam" had multiple kill shots, and no one took it.

But apparently the show "never takes the shocking intriguing route".

And you list a scene you apparently like, yet also state they do nothing right? How can those two points be accurate?

Clearly the show hasn't been taking the safe route all this season with what they have done with Sam, as there is a lot more pat, safe options that could have played out to get Sam back from Hell. I mean seriously in a two man show when's the last time you've seen them take the kindler gentler character, and remove every positive caring aspect of that character and do it for a long character arc?

That's certainly not playing it safe. As the relationship between the characters has always been very much the core of this show. I honestly can't think of one single american made show with two leads that has done this and is going to do this for a minimum of at least 11 episodes. But apparently the show is taking the safe option.

So, skinwalkers and vampires are both doing a mass recruitment drive...and we know that such creatures end up in purgatory...the place Crowley wants to go...

I think Crowley is trying to take over all of creation, and the alphas are fighting back.

I don't mean to butt in, but I would just like to say: I wound up taking people's advice and buying some DVD sets of this show.

I've been watching the first season, and I'm liking what I see so far. It's derivative, but in a good way--sort of like a set of skilful variations on a favourite melody. I was especially surprised by their ability to make a good episode out of the "Bloody Mary" urban legend--that was clever.

And that car--that car. We wants it, Precious, yes, yes!

I've been pleasantly surprised by this season's storylines. It's still family taking care of family...this time Dean trying to help a soulless Sam. Armageddon may have been the scheduled season finale for last year but the suspense is still building up in the extra innings.

Goliath, I like you avatar! Maybe Sam and Dean should make a little side trip to Dimentia Five sometime. Since Sam doesn't sleep anymore, it'll probably be up to Dean to figure out how to escape from there!!

Pretty much what I was saying after the first or second episode of the season, even if no one bought it then. :P Even nailed it that it was Crowley who got Sam out of the pit. The only big thing I got wrong is that I assumed Sam made a deal with Crowley before the confrontation with Lucifer, which I still think would have been a better explanation.

Is that Bobby Singer? Give him a kiss from me.

Soulless Sam makes me nervous. That's a good thing, of course, since it piques my interest. At the end of the day, SPN is always more character based than plot based. Just my opinion. Goliath, welcome to the fold. You won't believe the character growth and progression throughout the seasons. If only Enterprise had characters that grew and changed like this.

I agree about the alphas.

But the problem with Crowley is (and I like the character) he shouldn't have been able to do what he did (If he was the only one who did it).

Really I only have two problems with the show this year (not episodes just over riding issues), one is Crowley based on all evidence to date can't have the power to remove Sam from the deepest hole in the Pitt. We have been shown repeatedly that the biggest Demons don't have the power to so, even ones that deal.

So Either Crowley has help that we haven't seen (which is certainly possible like say a creature like Death as an example) or he has somehow manage to gain power from other sources that are beyond the natural ability of any demon.

2nd issue, they have to address at some point why Sam isn't using his ability to feed off of demons to take down Crowley, or to even mention it. Again the show has shown Sam returned from the grave multiple times with no impact on his ability, and we know thanks to that absolutely awful episode Swap Meat, that Sam's soul has no bearing on his ability and role in raising lucifer. And we also know that a demon can't remove that ability. The only whole that I have discovered that the writers could use is that perhaps a living soul (no matter who's) has to be involved in the harnessing of those abilities. As even in Swap Meat a soul was in that body, it just wasn't Sam's.

And clearly this Sam would have no moral problem about using demon blood. Seriously. He doesn't care if innocents are killed in meeting his goal. He has no problem in seeing hundreds being transformed into monsters to get his goal. Then clearly sucking down some blood should be no problem. And since he has all of Sam's memories, but none of his objections its a no brainer that it must be addressed. Even if they used the upcoming flashback episode to address this at some point even Dean would consider this a much better option then a Sam who cares nothing at all about humanity.

Is it possible Crowley is lying about being able to give Sam back his soul, or that he's the one who really pulled him out of hell?
