Superman Anthology on Blu-Ray

I wonder what will be different from the blu ray's you can get at your local comic book store for 9 dollars

These look like pretty big extras

The Collection also boasts 20 hours of bonus features including the never-before-seen original opening to Superman Returns.

The Digital Bits also says that some of the HD transfers are new:

Editor's Note: I've clarified with WHV that new HD masters have been done for the theatrical cuts of Superman: The Movie, Superman II, Superman III and Superman IV in the BD set. The expanded version of Superman: The Movie is a newer 1080p master than was used for the previous BD release, with extensive MTI dirt clean-up. Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut and Superman Returns are the same BD compressions as before.

Here's a rundown on everything:

Yeah I just re-read the comingsoon article and it contains the same info. I'm a little excited about never before seen original opening for "Superman Returns" which I'm assuming is Clark returning from the devastated Krypton that was in the shooting script.

^ Indeed and that Lex was responsible for it (he's the one that planted the false story in the first place) he jokes about but doesn't elaborate.

A further update on certain specs, via Digital Bits:

The Science of Superman documentary included in the set was a Circuit City-exclusive with the release of Superman Returns, so this is its first wide release and also its first in HD. The Look, Up in the Sky! The Amazing Story of Superman is also seeing its first HD release here. Not only are those two in HD, but we've also learned that the never-before-seen Return to Krypton alternate opening scene from Superman Returns will be included in full HD in this set. That's a very cool and appreciated touch. Also, a number of you have asked about the audio for the Superman: The Movie BDs. The 1978 Theatrical Cut Blu-ray will BOTH the 2000 mix in English 5.1 DTS-HD MA and also the original theatrical audio in English 2.0 DTS-HD MA. Naturally, the 2000 Expanded Edition Blu-ray will include the 2000 remixed audio in English 5.1 DTS-HD MA. Hope that clarifies things for you. Really, the only disappointing thing about this set is that the Fleischer Superman shorts aren't in full HD.

SO happy they're finally releasing the theatrical cuts on bluray. The newer versions definitely have some cool additional scenes, but the awkward way that they're inserted, and the way they seriously mess up the flow of the movie, has always been a huge deal-breaker for me.

Well Singer always said he was holding the Krypton scenes over for the sequel (probably for some kind of flashback), but since THAT'S clearly not going to happen now I guess we might as well see it.
