Superman: a radical (I assume) brainstormed idea

I liked it when some villain was saying that Clark the Bumbling fool is exactly what he really thinking of Humanity, that it's not a disguise but an attempt to blend in with the rest of the bumbling fools.

I remember Bill in Kill Bill Vol II expousing this theory and it kinda rocked my world view for a milliseconf=d because what he was saying did seem to make sense. Other heroes tended to don a costume - spiderman, Batman - but Superman's costume in a way was Clark Kent because the big S came with Clark in his ship from Krypton.

The Kents designed the S-shield. Only the movies and Smallville claim it's a sort of El family crest or something.

In one iteration of the Man of Steel... well, two. In the Silver Age, it was designed by Jonathan Kent who saw it in a dream. In the Modern Age, it was sketched by Jonathan. In the current age, the S-Shield is now part of his Krypton heritage. Waid in Birthright made it the planet's flag, a symbol of hope. In Johns run, I believe that it's just the El family crest.

No, it's also used as a Kryptonian symbol in Superman: The Animated Series and the comics miniseries Superman: Birthright.
