OK, before anyone has a cow, let me address the question on a lot of minds right away - "That game is 31 years old, and you can easily emulate it - how have you not beaten Mother Brain by now?" Well, the answer is simple - "I have, but not in less than 3 gameplay hours with a 100% item collection rate." Until last week, my highest accomplishment in the latter category was 87%, so I went online to learn where the few things were that I was missing. I already knew about the X-Ray Scope, but didn't deem it necessary - turns out I was wrong. There were also a few Super and regular Missiles I missed (primarily in Maridia), and one or two Power Bombs. Armed with this new knowledge, I started over from the beginning and did a complete playthrough in just over 3 hours real-time (the in-game clock is slightly different).
