Super Hi Res Enterprise

Well... that's just awesome.

They've got McCoy wearing a ring on his left pinky finger, just like DeForest Kelley did.

If you don't know, De wore a ring that belonged to his mother. Gene had a no jewelery rule, and De's response was, "No ring, no DeForest" and so he was allowed to wear it.

The fact that they have this McCoy wearing that is just... awesome, IMHO.

I still have issues with the redesign...but I'd be lying if I didn't admit that new picture wasn't awesome.

Even in TOS it could(see dialogue from "The Apple"). So...maybe. Who knows?

A bit flat compared to the old version, (this one is way too dark?) but gorgeous nonetheless.

Pretty poor quality though, surely they could have sent out HD visuals?

I wanted to point something out to everyone here that I found interesting. I posted this in the TrekMovie comment section (slightly edited in context for this site.)

At first glance the shot of Spock in front of the view screen appears to be from the Empire Magazine cover.
Here is the Empire shot:

Now view the hi-res version of that pic in the TrekMovie article.

Notice the Enterprise Hull and stars in both of these shots (the stars in the hi-res pic are noticeable if you zoom in at full size.)

It seems to be the exact same shot but with a slightly background outside of the view screen. Regardless, notice the sideways “streak” of the stars and the different angles of the top of Enterprise hull. This could suggest one of two things.

1.) It IS indeed a viewscreen (and not a window as had been speculated) and it displays what appears to be a rotating camera image from the bridge POV.

2.) It’s a window and the bridge rotates.

Which one is more feasible?

Could be a shuttle or something...

EDIT: Nevermind, just saw the NCC-1701 in the corner of the screen. An interesting thing to note though is that it seems only the stars to the right of Spock seem to change. The ones on the left are the same. Not only that, but the shape of the viewscreen changes too...

Or,

They have spent more time working on the VFX since the Empire pic?

It's a window. The Kelvin has a window, it's clearly an art direction Abrams wants to go with.

And no the bridge doesn't rotate. Surely it's infinitely more plausible that the ship is simply moving slowly?

What streaking stars? Oh you mean the lights reflecting from the bridge?

3.) Window that is also a viewscreen.

There yah go.
