Usually watching the box office can be fun, so thought I'd do it for us this summer. Yeah I'm starting late, been posting updates in The Avengers thread but as it's fallen more down the list it seems less relevant.

All numbers will be courtesy of Box Office Mojo.

For the week ending June 10:

Estimated Domestic. (Change from previous week.)
1. Madagascar 3: $60m
2. Prometheus: $50m
3. Snow White: $23m (-59%)
4. Men in Black 3: $13m (-52%)
5. Avengers: $10m (-47%)
6. The Best Exotic...: $3.3m (-28%)
7. What to Expect...: $2.7m (-39%)
8. Battleship: $2.3m (-55%)
9. The Dictator: $2.1 (-54%)
10. Moonrise Kingdom: $1.6m (+80%)
11. Dark Shadows: $1.3m (-63%)
12. Hunger Games: $1m (-33%)

Avengers Watch!
#3 movie World Wide in total grosses at $1.4 billion, under Titanic ($2.2b) and Avatar ($2.8b.)
#3 movie Domestically (not adjusted for inflation) at $572 million, trailing behind Titanic at $658 million and Avatar at $760 million.

When "The Dark Knight" is release in late July I'll also keep track of its records and ranking in all-time grosses since it's likely to be the Summer's other big cash cow.

I didn't even know there was another Madagascar movie coming out until I checked movie times for Prometheus tonight. I haven't seen the other ones, so I don't plan on seeing this new one either. I just think it's weird that I haven't seen a single preview for it.

Count yourself lucky. Here for the past couple of months there's been a "please be quiet in the theater" short before movies featuring the Madagascar characters.
