There weren't too many movies worth watching this summer, but I think Marvel came out quite well. 3 Quality movies and I've changed my mind from that whole comic books genre thing I had before the summer started to "I'm really looking forward to The Avengers". Also liked Bridesmaids, as a bit of the sleeper hit of the summer and Kristen's Wiig's coming out party, and Harry Potter was a pretty decent ending. Like I said though, I really didn't see to many films this summer so it's hard to say if this summer was a success in my view or not.

And Super 8 might have been the most underrated film of the summer, at least in the sci fi genre. Really liked that one.

You know, it would help a lot if you'd explained that the numbers represented budget and gross at the top of the list instead of the bottom. As it is, it's a very confusing list.

Also, isn't the conventional wisdom that a movie has to make back at least twice its budget to count as a success, due to all the marketing and distribution costs and such that are also involved? So that would put everything from #19 down in the flop category.

Wow, I've seen seven movies in theaters this summer -- all four superhero movies, Kung Fu Panda 2, Harry Potter, and Rise/Apes. That's a really busy movie season by my standards. And I liked all the ones I saw -- even Green Lantern, while flawed, was still entertaining.

Kind of a meh year for me. Only saw Captain America, looking forward to more from The Avengers. Might see 6 or 7 movies from that list eventually on DVD. Too bad Pixar had an off year, they're usually so reliable.
