^ What, no "W" sound in the german language? You've been misinformed. It might not been called "double-u", but it is pronounced as your "W"! Wixiban in english sounds exactly like Wixiban in german. But what a german might laugh about is first part of the name: "Wixi". As it sounds exatly like "wichsi" -- which just sounds like "Wichse" which means ... hm, how can I say it ... "cum". Don't belive me? Go look up "Wichse".

I think I just was surprised at your statement that Germans have no "W" sound at all. Well, they have and it is indeed similar pronounced as the English "V". But it's not that different from an English pronounced "W", too. However, "Wixiban" sounds very much the same in German, believe me. The thing is I'm also talking about the German dub version where names aren't really changed from their original pronunciation. So forget about it -- the only thing I wanted to say was that the name sounds dirty in Germany.
One more thing I hope you don't mind me to ask: Where do they have "six years of German classes"? So if this isn't too personal ...

Secondary school. That's more or less equivalent to American middle and high school, and generally is kids from 13-18. Irish Gaelic is generally mandatory, but besides that and English most kids do a third language, as you need one for college entry.
I did German. I didn't do it very well, I can't speak any of it any more, but Ich spreche und schreibt Deutsch sehr nicht gut in der Zeit. And that's my good German...

And funny because it contains one of the major problems Germans seem to have with the English language: Sentence structure. It should be Ich spreche und schreibe Deutsch nicht mehr sehr gut. But what do you want to say with: "in der Zeit"? I guess you mean: "anymore".

^ Sorry but then you not only mixed up the word order but the time forms. It should be: Ich sprach und schrieb Deutsch nicht sehr gut damals. But I don't want to sound like your teacher or something. I've so many problems using English myself -- so we should leave it alone. 
And yes, Zeit is feminin.

To return to avatars, I love silly avatars from minor and probably unliked alien figures when it comes to my Trek forte. That's why I have Wixiban here, on another forum I'm Bandar, the dog-like Antican Ambassador from TNG S1. On yet another forum I ran out of good ideas so I just chose a walrus. The walrus is innately funny.

Oh no, it is. Ireland is a lot like a number of other colonised nations - most people speak the language of the former colonisers, namely English. Native Gaelic speakers are actually a minority, but everyone gets it in the schools.
I was going to originally have DaiMon Bok from TNG S1 for my TrekBBS avatar, but I couldn't find a satisfactory image, and ultimately I think I'm more happy with this one.

But you know what, I really should have known this about Ireland. I think we spent a whole year in my Advanced English Course covering the history of Ireland. But I seem to have forgotten everything. Sorry.
Well, I like your avatar. If one would nitpick, I would say that it could be in better quality -- but that's insignificant. I liked the character of Wixiban. He was funny but never over-the-top funny. I think he brought a great deal of realism to his character. Never really liked DaiMon Bok -- though he is one of the more serious Ferengi, I guess.

Yeah. I liked Wix, too, I felt he was more like what Neelix should have been - nice and smarmy personality, but basically shifty and untrustworthy.
I've got a nostalgic fondness for Bok as he was the only Ferengi to be played absolutely straight as a villain. In retrospect, one can see why...
