Suddenly Human

Nakita Akita

Commodore
Commodore
This is the episode where the Human kid has been living with the people that make a horrid whining/yelling sound, The Talarians.
But any way when the episode opens, Work and Troi are standing behind the curved woo divider, pretty much Worf is In his normal place, Troi is on his left.
What in the Hell is she doing?
Her stance, I can think of several things, but I'll settle with her tight one-piece has slipped to a pinching position.
Then, suddenly, after a scene cut she is standing at an oblique angle to the Captain,
She is standing there arms hanging, no animation whatsoever, lack luster, strange looking, out of place, then she makes some observation or another.
I'm not usually one to notice this type of stuff, but is this bad scripting or what?

An in-universe rationalization? Will do!

Clearly, Picard has summoned Troi to the bridge in order to use her skills for dealing with the Talarian craft. Usually, that would mean letting her observe communications with the suspect vessel and make her deductions from that. And people responding to hails or initiating those tend to work from Worf's station or thereabouts, so that's a logical place for Troi to be, in a tense "standing by, Sir!" posture because the attempts are being frustrated.

And then it turns out that communications can't be established at all, so Troi walks down to Picard and waits for her turn to deliver the one thing she can, the confirmation that she feels the presence of life. And that's also her exit cue.
