Zack Snyder's upcoming action-fantasy film scheduled for release on March 25, 2011. It stars Vanessa Hudgens, Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish, Jamie Chung, and Jena Malone. The film takes place in the 1950's and seems to involve a girl who's in an institution who dreams up an alternate reality. I've been interested in this project since i first heard about it last year and am looking forward to it. Apple has the trailer up right now. Here is the wikipedia article

I'm following this a bit more now that Comic-Con has passed. Can't say it was on my radar till then.
I really like Carla Gugino and John Hamm is becoming a favorite. I'm optimistic that Vanessa Hudgens will be a break out from her upcoming troupe of actors so I'll be following this as more comes out.

It looks visually like Imaginarium of Dr.Parnassas a bit crossed with ????

The trailer I pulled up for Sucker Punch.

I assume everyone also saw the six posters below the trailer?
I loved those. I felt I was looking at pics from DragonCon they are so surreal.

If you're referring to the awesome character posters that were revealed at comic con this past weekend then yes...very cool. Not quite sure what has got me so excited about this film...it could either go by the way side like "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" or be a sleeper hit of the spring. Tyler Bates is composing the music for "Sucker Punch" which will be his third collaboration with Snyder as he provided the music for "300" and "Watchmen". I read that he and Zack have already discussed music for the movie and was working on motifs even before production. Interesting that this film also deals with dreams and alternate realities.

The trailer was absolutely amazing. But I'm very disappointed to hear that it's just her imagination and not "reality".

I prefer that. It means they can go nuts without having to waste time on plausible explanations for everything.

"It's a FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE!" :p ;)

I dunno, is the story going to "matter" if it's not real? I had the same problem with "The Fall".

See I'm working on a project that deals with that very concept myself right now. It asks the question did what you just see actually matter? Was it real? Did it happen? Of course it happened. You saw it happen. The alternate reality created in "Sucker Punch" is for a purpose. The main character is about to have a lobotomy and creates the reality to escape the pain and the reality of what is happening to her. As someone who's suffered a lot of pain myself and is a writer I can relate to the plot somewhat which is maybe a reason why I'm so drawn to this project but I can see your point.

This film attracted my interest right from the word 'go'. I enjoyed Watchmen and 300 was almost a good testosterone indulgence flick; it's not exactly Shakespeare but not everything needs to be. :techman:

Embedded for convenience.

I dream in a different way. I guess that's what our movie is about, for me anyway. one of the mechanisms of the film, or the procedural parts of the movie, is that when one of the girls fantasizes or closes her eyes, whatever you want to call it, their adventure parallels a little adventure they're doing in reality. Like, for instance, they need to steal a lighter that has dragon etched on it. It's the simplest thing ever. That's what they're really doing. Baby Doll's version of it is what you see, that's the movie — part of it. She closes her eyes, they go to another freakin' world, they fight a dragon, they have a B-25 with a jet engine, they finally slit the baby dragon's throat and then...
