But it was the creation of these characters that allowed it to breathe and live so vividly, and the real strength of all the ST shows and films has been through its characters. And the strength of those characters is something much less debated, is it not?
I can easily place GR in the likes of Tolkien for the characters his mind has given us, especially TOS-TNG.
And I also think the core of STXI is its main TOS characters, portrayed vividly and boldly in this new film. What would we have without them?
Many good people have worked their tails off to bring Star Trek projects to life over the years, but the success of it has always been driven by its characters, boldly going - and we wouldn't have them without Gene's masterful creation of them.
