Stuff Ruined for You Because Someone You Hate Likes It...

OK, this is gonna sound weird, but, hey, it's TrekBBs, you know? :p

So does anyone else have shows or movies or whatever else, that you used to enjoy, but can no longer do so because someone you dislike/hate enjoys it? And because they enjoy it, it just reminds you of them? And so, because it reminds you of them, you can't enjoy it anymore?

I know, sounds whack, but... oh well! It's how I feel!

I had a friend who liked South Park a lot, and said individual did and said some things, and... is not a friend anymore, and so now I can't stand to watch South Park because all I think about is that person.

You know? :p

It's really dumb, because there are other things I still like that people I do not like... like. LOL. Like, there are a few Trekkies over the years I've grown to dislike, and yet, I still like Trek. Weird, I know.

Wow, I just said "like" three times out of 4 words in a row. *Cringe* Blond moment? Then, I'm a guy, do we have blond moments? I guess asking that question answers it, though. :p

I was rather jarred to learn that Saddam Hussein's favorite singer is Frank Sinatra. :rommie:

Not quite ruined for me, I guess. But still.

In real life, there was one person in a class I recently took that I thought was a talentless idiot who was just coasting along on the effort of other team members and was disconcerted to learn (via an email name) that she must be a Niner. :wtf:

Not nearly enough to ruin DS9 for me.

This happens with old girlfriends A LOT! Certain songs I can't listen to be they would either sing the lyrics or we were making some sweet hot love while it was playing in the background. Aerosmith and Def Leppard are two bands I can't listen to without wanting to throw my radio out the window.

Um....no. Even people I severely dislike have absolutely no affect on what I choose to do or enjoy. If anything, it gives me at least that one little scrap of something to talk about with that person, if I should ever be forced to do so.

If I really, REALLY dislike that person, I tend to just wipe their existence from my mind, until I am forced to deal with them again. Life is way too short to give a damn about what other people think and I really don't need the extra stress.

I understand what you mean, but it isn't the way it happens for me.

If I like something, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks of it, not even someone with whom I've had a falling-out. That changes nothing for me; if it was good before, it's good after. The only gauge is my own opinion, which is subject to change over time but not because of other people.
