Hi everyone, my names Dusty Abell and I drew the Star Trek The Original Series poster for the Star Trek 50th Anniversary coffee table book and traveling art exhibit featuring something or someone from every original episode. I need some help re: the Next Gen.......can anyone suggest any iconic set pieces from the series on par with things for the original series like The Guardian on the Edge of Forever, Vaal (the stone lizard statue), The Obelisk from The Paradise Syndrome, the Rigel Fortress for the Cage.......things like that but from Next Gen, does anyone have any suggestions? Besides the throne/chair in the Masks episode i'm having a difficult time coming up with anything........ Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated........

Starfleet Academy is pretty iconic (maybe for the background?), borg alcoves are immediately recognizable as well. The crystals from the landscape in "the last outpost" might be suited as well. Also, the Holodeck-Bow should be included :)

Other than that, nothing comes to mind, hm. TNG was better on the Starship side.
I love your work. Can't wait to see what you are going to do with TNG. Are you planning on doing something similar for the other shows as well? :)

I'll check those crystals out, the borg alcove, good call...........the holodeck doors are definitely in......... would you happen to know which episodes best represent The Academy? If anything else comes to mind i'd sure appreciate you coming back and letting me know, very helpful! Oh, and there are a boatload of ships!!!!

Klingon great hall.
Farpoint station or Farpoint jellyfish.
Gomtuu.
Galaxy's Child alien.
Crystalline Entity.
The Borg building from Descent....

This is a lot harder than I expected. :)

P.S. Loved your work on the TOS one. Awesome.

Picard's flute, as previously noted.

The saucer section detached from the stardrive section.

The Starfleet headquarters on Earth view used in a few episodes.

The Engineering warp core. Also the engineering pool table workstation (I just read a script yesterday where it actually refers to it as a pool table).

And empty holodeck.

How about iconic for series fans? Taht could include Q's chair used in the pilot and the series finale. And Picard's ready room, a turbolift interior, a transporter pad area, general corridoors. Oh, and the image of Kelsey Grammer in TOS movie uniform on an old Bridge.

The oil slick man who did in Tasha.

General iconic images, but not sets or props:

Riker standing next to Data, with a leg on the ops station.

Picard messing with his uniform when standing up.

The rubber band warp speed effect

TNG relied more on swirly space thingys, it would seem.

If you use the Klingon Great Hall, then one of the Romulan Capital cityscapes from various episodes or the movie version from Star Trek: Nemesis is a choice.

Plus maybe the various 'national' emblems, eg either the Federation UN inspired seal or the Starfleet delta, the modern Klingon trefoil, either version of the Romulan Bird of Prey holding Romulus and Remus etc.

I could see an argument being made calling the Holodeck as an iconic set piece. TNG gave us the holodeck for the first time and the computer arch and black and yellow grid are pretty iconic. Plus it served the plot in quite a few episodes... the Big Goodbye, Elementary, Dear Data, Hollow Pursuits, A Fistful of Datas, Ship in a Bottle... to name a few. Now that I think about it, a lot of episodes in TNG featured the holodeck. Even Encounter at Farpoint.

Ditto for the Transporter Room and Ten Forward. And Engineering. And of course the Bridge.
