There was this "learning show" I used to watch in the 1990s either on TLC or The Discovery Channel (my gut tells me it was the former) it was narrated by I think Tom Selleck but I'm not positive on that (IMDB turns up nothing.)
It was a show generally about space, the science of space and space travel, etc. I remember one scene fairly vividly where, in order to explain to the audience how "fast" light is, they broke down a second into the instant that shows the time light travels across the distance of, like, a mile or something like that.
It was very neat series and I'm struggling to remember the name of it!
