I hope they bring her in just as you say. I see Leila as being the final step in the path of Spock abandoning his pursuit of human companionship and re-establishes his bond with T'Pring. T'Pring, of course, has no doubt already moved on to Stonn given that they were already colleagues in The Serene Squal.

Semi-related: shouldn't Roger Korby be listed as missing by this point?

For everything they've done to fill in the context missing from TOS it would be a shame if such things were left off screen. Like if it's 2262 now and he just rejected her because he was with La'an or something. And if the Korby stuff just happened in between the seasons too.

I’d be shocked if Leila shows up. I’m guessing they folded her story into the Spock/Chapel and Spock/La’an relationships. Or they are gonna retcon it to say that relationship happened when Spock was in the Academy.

This is the franchise where writers kept saying the 29th century was 400 years in the future from the 24th century so adjusting Leila by a couple of years would be far from the biggest ask.

I think it's less about the character herself and more how she could be a piece of the puzzle. DSC and SNW have been showing us the journey from laughing Cage Spock to the Spock we're familiar with and has runaway with otherwise throwaway lines and references. So with her falling in to the timeline where we are give or take it seems like something they could take advantage of. Especially given how they've gone out of theif way to make the timeline all line up as best as it can.

Because for some fans, if you're doing a prequel in the time frame a spoken charvtef incicedent occurred THEY MUST SHOW IT TO CONNECT THE DOTS!

(Personally I could have done without seeing Dr. Roger Corby - so yeah, they can skip Lelia Kalomi as far as I'm concerned. YMMV of course.)

Because of how she describes Spock when last they met. People want to tie in his journey from emotional to reserved in SNW and explain how she fits in.

• LEILA: I love you. I said that six years ago, and I can't seem to stop repeating myself. On Earth, you couldn't give anything of yourself. You couldn't even put your arms around me. We couldn't have anything together there. We couldn't have anything together anyplace else. We're happy here. I can't lose you now, Mister Spock. I can't.
• SPOCK: I have a responsibility to this ship, to that man on the Bridge. I am what I am, Leila, and if there are self-made purgatories, then we all have to live in them. Mine can be no worse than someone else's.

But with SNW showing Spock having a break from T'Pring, it seems odd that the show would specifically create a scenario where Spock could be free to date Leila as described in this Side of Paradise, yet pass up the opportunity entirely.

Enterprise was at Starbase 1 in the Sol System (in Jupiter orbit per “Strange New Worlds”) for three months during the first part of 2261 (“Wedding Bell Blues”). Spock and Chapel were broken up at the time. Spock went to Earth on leave, met Kalomi, rejected her, came back to Starbase 1.

We know the Enterprise spent months in repairs after Hegemony in 2261. If Leila never shows up, she likely met Spock offscreen on Earth during this timeframe while he was pining for Chapel.
